{"id":438554,"date":"2026-01-26T12:53:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-26T12:53:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/438554\/"},"modified":"2026-01-26T12:53:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-26T12:53:11","slug":"nsw-police-shoot-alleged-drug-dealers-dog-after-toddler-was-attacked-at-moama-skate-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/438554\/","title":{"rendered":"NSW Police shoot alleged drug dealer&#8217;s dog after toddler was attacked at Moama skate park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">A man whose dog was shot by police after it allegedly attacked a three-year-old at a Moama skate park has been charged with drug, driving and theft offences.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">New South Wales Police said a large dog escaped from a parked ute and attacked the boy at the Moama skate park on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Officers from the Murray River Police District and members of the public separated the child and dog.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">When the dog remained aggressive, a male senior constable shot and injured it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Police allege the 35-year-old owner then took the injured dog back to his car before driving away from the scene.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The child was taken to the Echuca Hospital for treatment and has since been released.<\/p>\n<p>Nine charges laid<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">About an hour and a half after the incident, police intercepted and arrested the 35-year-old man on the same street.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">They found cannabis and more than $92,000 in cash in the car.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Checks revealed his South Australian driver&#8217;s licence had expired 12 years ago.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">He was charged with nine offences, including possessing and supplying a prohibited drug, and recklessly dealing with the proceeds of crime.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">He was remanded to appear in Albury Local Court on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Images of blue and white checkered police tape stretched across a suburban street.\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1769431991_892_5cf13d835110043f95f700a0d0f8f680.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">New South Wales Police say the investigation into the alleged attack is ongoing.
