Hempstead, NY – Cassidy Geddes scored a game-high 22 points to lead William & Mary to a 55-37 CAA victory over Hofstra Monday afternoon at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex. Alarice Gooden<\/a> led Hofstra with eight points.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Pride slipped to 3-16 overall and 1-7 in the CAA with the loss. The Tribe, the defending CAA champions, moved to 10-8 overall and 3-4 in league play with their second consecutive win.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hofstra scored the first four points of the contest on baskets from Ema Karim<\/a> and Sandra Magolico<\/a> before the Tribe scored nine straight points to take the lead for good. William & Mary would lead, 15-6 at the end of the first 10 minutes behind seven points from Geddes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Tribe lead grew to 11 points early in the second quarter before a 10-2 run from Hofstra made it a three-point game, 19-16, with 5:05 remaining. Gooden and Deivejon Harris<\/a> each scored four points in the spurt. William & Mary would close the quarter with a 5-0 run to take a 24-16 lead into halftime.<\/p>\n

William & Mary would open the third quarter with an 8-2 run to take a 32-18 lead and Hofstra would not get the deficit under 10 the rest of the way.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hofstra returns to action on Friday, January 30, at Stony Brook. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:31 p.m.<\/p>\n

Notes:
-Hofstra is 32-23-1 all-time against William & Mary.
-Magolico had a game-high 11 rebounds, her eighth game with 10 or more.
-Karim finished with seven points and six rebounds.
-William & Mary’s Alex Mikesa was the only other player to score double-figures with 10 points.
