\t\t\t\tTUCSON- California men’s golf jumped up the leaderboard, closing out the first day of the N.I.T. in a tie for fifth place, before play was suspended in the second round due to darkness.

\nAfter shooting an even par 72 in the first round, sophomore Ziqin Zhou<\/a> led the Bears with five birdies in his first 11 holes of round two before play was suspended. He finished the day alone in 10th place. Freshman Xihuan Chang<\/a> wasn’t far behind his teammate, shooting a two under 70 in the first round, finishing the day at three under par, in a tie for 21st.

\nAfter turning in a one over 73 in round one, freshman Trevor Cox<\/a> carded two birdies in his first 11 holes of round two, finishing the day at even par. Redshirt sophomore Sihao Cong<\/a> had a tough first round, shooting a four over 76, but turned it around in the second with four birdies to finish the day at one over par.

\nRedshirt junior Charlie Bundy<\/a>, playing as an individual, posted a one under par 71 in round one, before carding four birdies in round two to finish the day at three under par in a tie for 21st place.

\nThe Bears finished the first round shooting a one over par 289, and are currently 10 under par through 11 holes in round two. The second round will continue tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. PT.
