Koepka revealed during his 24-minute press conference that Tiger Woods was the first person he contacted when his exit from LIV was complete with Koepka detailing his close bond with Woods, the chairman of the PGA Tour\u2019s Future Competitions Committee, as one of the reasons for the phone call.<\/p>\n
\u201cLIV understood the decision and the position I was in, so on the 23rd (December) I was released and I called Tiger right away, then that process got the ball rolling,\u201d Koepka said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve always had a good relationship with Tiger. That was what I wanted to do once I had the opportunity to, I guess, get reinstated on the PGA Tour \u2026 I didn\u2019t really know what to do. That was the first person that kind of came to mind.<\/p>\n
\u201cI didn\u2019t know (incoming PGA Tour commissioner) Brian (Rolapp), I didn\u2019t have a relationship with him obviously just because he\u2019s pretty new.<\/p>\n
\u201cI felt like Tiger was somebody that I\u2019ve relied on in the past for questions and answers and how to deal with things and I felt like that was maybe the most comfortable call for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

There were tough conversations, but it was what was best for me and best for my family. And I think that was the decision that my wife, myself, everybody, my team, thought that that was best as well<\/p>\n \u201cMy wife is coming this week, my son is coming this week. They\u2019re going to come next week as well, so that will be super exciting to have them come out. Just having my family around is really important. <\/p>\n \u201cI have grown up a lot the last few years and especially the last few months. Being able to be close to them is super important to me.\u201d<\/p>\n Brooks Koepka speaks about his return to the PGA Tour.Source: Supplied<\/p>\n Koepka doesn\u2019t give off the impression he\u2019s someone who gets nervous on or off the course.<\/p>\n Given he has five majors to his name, being able to quell nerves would have to be one of his greatest assets.<\/p>\n However, given the criticism he copped for originally defecting to LIV, Koepka admitted there has and will be some nerves in the lead up to the Farmers.<\/p>\n I think the nervousness probably was more for this (press conference), to get this out of the way to be quite fair,\u201d Koepka said. <\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m maybe a little bit antsy to get to Thursday just so I can get back to playing golf and that\u2019s where I feel the most comfortable but I was definitely nervous just for this.<\/p>\n \u201cMaybe I\u2019m a little nervous about that as well just to see how, I guess, how the fans respond to it. I hope that they\u2019re excited.
