Tane Edmed\u00a0gets\u00a0the nod at\u00a0fly-half and\u00a0gets\u00a0his first chance to\u00a0don\u00a0Brumbies colours\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0team\u2019s\u00a0first trial\u00a0in Perth on\u00a0Friday, 30 January,\u00a0ahead of the 2026\u00a0Swyftx\u00a0Super Rugby Pacific Season.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Head Coach\u00a0Stephen Larkham\u00a0has named a squad featuring\u00a0a mix of established Super Rugby players, Wallabies, and boom rookies. The head coach has dangled\u00a0opportunities for\u00a0all\u00a0players to stake their claim\u00a0for playing time in this trial, with one eye on Round 1 of the\u00a0Swyftx\u00a0Super Rugby Pacific\u00a0season on 14 February, also against the Force\u00a0in Perth.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Declan Meredith\u00a0moves from his usual fly-half role to start at\u00a0fullback, giving the team extra playmaking options with star fullback\u00a0Tom Wright\u00a0still on the mend.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the forwards,\u00a0Lington Leli\u00a0and\u00a0Rhys van Nek\u00a0will start at prop, stepping in for\u00a0James Slipper\u00a0(rested) and\u00a0Allan\u00a0Alaalatoa\u00a0(managing an injury) after recent stints with Australia A.\u00a0Chris Mickelson\u00a0earns the hooker jersey following a standout season in the\u00a0John I Dent Cup, where he took home the\u00a0Macdougall Medal.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The locks\u00a0Harvey\u00a0Cordukes\u00a0and\u00a0Lachlan Shaw\u00a0form a towering second row pairing, while the backrow\u00a0bruisers\u00a0of\u00a0Tuaina\u00a0Taii\u00a0Tualima, Rory Scott, and Charlie Cale\u00a0combines physicality, relentless work rate, and attacking threat.\u00a0<\/p>\n

At halfback,\u00a0Klayton Thorn\u00a0will link with Edmed, looking to\u00a0spark the enticing Brumbies backline.\u00a0Outside backs\u00a0Kye Oates\u00a0and\u00a0Shane Wilcox\u00a0take the wings, with Oates bringing his experience from last year\u2019s\u00a0First Nations & Pasifika XV\u00a0clash against the British & Irish Lions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In midfield, the dynamic\u00a0Jarrah McLeod\u00a0continues his\u00a0rapid\u00a0rise alongside the dependable\u00a0Hudson Creighton\u00a0at outside centre, both eager to\u00a0show their\u00a0wares in a midfield without the likes of Len\u00a0Ikitau\u00a0in 2026.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
