\n\tBruce Springsteen<\/a> released a freshly written song, \u201cStreets of Minneapolis,\u201d on Wednesday, in response to what he called \u201cthe state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis,\u201d which he dedicated to the city, \u201cour immigrant neighbors\u201d and in honor of the residents slain by ICE agents, Renee Good and Alex Pretti. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a statement, Springsteen said: \u201cI wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It\u2019s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbors and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good. Stay free, Bruce Springsteen.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe partly acoustic song erupts into a full-band arrangement and includes sing-along moments \u2014 or, in a chant-along moment, \u201cICE out of Minneapolis.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe lyrics describe how \u201ca city aflame fought fire and ice \u2018neath an occupier\u2019s boots,\u201d which Springsteen goes on to describe as \u201cKing Trump\u2019s private army from the DHS.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe tribute to fallen citizens comes when Springsteen sings, \u201cThere were bloody footprints \/ Where mercy should have stood \/ And two dead left to die on snow-filled streets \/ Alex Pretti and Renee Good.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe song concludes, \u201cHere in our home they killed and roamed \/ In the winter of \u201926 \/ We\u2019ll take our stand for this land \/ And the stranger in our midst \/ We\u2019ll remember the names of those who died \/ On the streets of Minneapolis.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe title of the song echoes Springsteen\u2019s \u201cStreets of Philadelphia,\u201d his song about the AIDS crisis that served as a title song for the film \u201cPhiladelphia.\u201d<\/p>\n
