of round 1, capitalising the B and K to represent his initials.

The clip swiftly went viral on Thursday (AEDT), with nearly 500,000 views in its first five hours online.

In the video, there are quick cuts of Koepka swinging the golf club from multiple angles, while one of his answers at the press conference, where he speaks about starting “another chapter”, is shown.

All that comes to the backtrack of Kanye West’s iconic 2007 hit Homecoming, in which Coldplay’s Chris Martin sings: “Now I’m coming home again, maybe we can start the PGA Tour by the colleagues he left four years ago serves as the biggest point of intrigue this week in San Diego, outside of how well he actually plays.

Earlier comments from the likes of Wyndham Clark, who earlier this month said that Koepka had been allowed to “have his cake and eat it too”, suggested a potentially frosty reception lay ahead.

That may still be the case among the Tour’s rank-and-file, who have had many doors on the PGA Tour shut to them as a response to the LIV Golf threat.

Just like LIV Golf, the PGA Tour now rewards its biggest starts the most, and more regularly, rather than being a total level playing field.

Get all the latest golf news, highlights and analysis delivered straight to your inbox with Fox comments that have been made publicly available.

The most prominent interaction seen this week involves Koepka meeting Billy Horschel on the driving range.

In the video, Horschel offers Koepka an enthusiastically warm welcome, dapping him up while appearing to share a joke with him.

It’s worth noting that Horschel made headlines at the height of the player exodus to LIV by calling defectors — which included Koepka — “hypocrites”.

WHAT PLAYERS ARE SAYING

Other stars have also refused to sink the boot in towards Koepka and instead are revelling in the major boost for the PGA Tour, which will also welcome back 2018 Masters champion Patrick Reed from late August — one year on from his most recent LIV Golf event.

Reed will need to serve that time before being able to re-join the PGA Tour, whereas Koepka — being a major winner since 2022 — is the benefactor of a fast-tracked process that’s only open to him, Cameron Smith, Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm before February 2.

Adam Scott, who is a member of both the PGA Tour’s policy board and Player Advisory Council, said that he was pleased to see the pathways back to the PGA Tour from LIV Golf being used.

“I think it’s good things for the tour, and probably maybe more positive things for the golf fan,” Scott, said.

Speaking about the difference of star power between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf, he added: “My personal opinion is that’s a little bit harsh. But I understand what they’re saying … and certainly with Brooks returning [and] Patrick might return soon. They’re no joke.

“Brooks is an incredible player and Patrick’s a major champion and a feisty competitor. … So, hopefully the fans appreciate that.

“I feel like we’re just dealing with it for the first time in this cycle, but, you know, it’s hard having a crystal ball to look ahead and know how things play out.”

Taking a firmer viewpoint, however, was this week’s defending champion Harris English.

Speaking after learning of Reed’s imminent defection, English said that the writing is now on the wall for LIV Golf.

“As you’re seeing, kind of the dominoes are starting to fall of maybe those guys on the LIV tour are not that happy out there and the grass is not greener on the other side,” English said.

“They’re seeing the PGA Tour getting stronger and having more success, and kind of seeing that money’s not the end all, be all. Like that doesn’t fulfil them. It doesn’t fulfil me.

‘Like playing a video game…’ | 01:01

“They’re still competitors; they’re competitive people and they love playing in the biggest events against the best players in the world. For me, that’s out here on the PGA Tour, and I think they’re starting to realise that, that that’s what fulfils them.”

Swedish gun Ludvig Aberg also said he didn’t begrudge anyone looking to get back onto the PGA Tour.

He revealed that he had the opportunity to join LIV Golf, but ultimately wasn’t excited by the proposal.

“I didn’t like it; it wasn’t anything I wanted to be a part of,” he said.

Aberg added: “If you’re doing it the right way and you want to come back, I have no problem.”

But perhaps the most poetic of reactions in San Diego this week came from last year’s shock US Open champion, JJ Spaun.

His take on the situation suggested that some of the stars still on LIV Golf have made the wrong move, and are doomed to a career of obscurity.

“Golf always wins in the end. I’m really conscious that a few people can’t mess it up,” he said.

“And if they fiddle too much, they’ll be caught out, and, you know, vanish from the game—like struck down by golf and removed.”

Brooks Koepka held a lengthy press conference this week ahead of his stunning return to the PGA Tour…

[566
5487,2095,64,63,485,3193,52769,175501,230719,3738,230718,755,51063,230723,1745,29459,15816,230725,230724,230717,104668,230721,2041,2067,70796,42333,50264,230720,54492,668,5886,85,230722,6953,230489,2614,766,230716,175347,6959
post-444516","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-golf","tag-adam-scott","tag-america","tag-au","tag-australia","tag-california","tag-cameron-smith","tag-crystal-ball","tag-dj-premier","tag-four-word-jab","tag-fox-sports","tag-fresh-defection-spells","tag-golf","tag-golf-club","tag-golf-fan","tag-golf-news","tag-golf-world","tag-harris-english","tag-hype-video","tag-impactful-statement","tag-lengthy-press-conference","tag-ludvig-aberg","tag-multiple-angles","tag-north-america","tag-northern-america","tag-patrick-reed","tag-player-advisory-council","tag-player-exodus","tag-player-reactions","tag-positive-things","tag-press-conference","tag-san-diego","tag-sports","tag-swedish-gun","tag-tee-times","tag-truth-rivals","tag-united-states-of-america","tag-video-game","tag-villain-era","tag-webex-players-series","tag-wyndham-clark
["GET
