Stephen Colbert<\/a> is blasting Melania Trump<\/a>\u2019s forthcoming documentary ahead of its opening weekend.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The late-night host ripped into Amazon MGM Studios\u2019 first lady doc on Tuesday\u2019s episode of The Late Show<\/a>, noting that it is widely projected to bomb at the box office and sharing screenshots of multiple screenings that feature \u201czero tickets sold\u201d across the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe new Melania documentary hits theaters on Friday,\u201d Colbert began, before the audience began to boo. Coming to its defense, he teased, \u201cOh, no, no, it looks fantastic. It\u2019s a real peek behind the curtain at a woman picking out curtains.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

Colbert went on to share a clip of Trump\u2019s wife promoting the film on Fox & Friends earlier that day. In it, Melania explains that the film showcases her business, \u201cmy philanthropy, family, preparation for the inauguration, and also establishing the East Wing\u201d of the White House. The latter of which, of course, has since been bulldozed<\/a> in order to create her husband\u2019s ballroom.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cMadam First Lady, I have some terrible news,\u201d Colbert joked after the clip. \u201cLet\u2019s just say, the East Wing no longer\u2026 be best. Or be there.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

The comedian went on to note that Amazon has not only \u201cbribed a whopping $40 million\u201d to secure the movie deal, but also spent \u201can additional $35 million\u201d on its marketing, promotion, and distribution.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo big box office, right? Wrong,\u201d Colbert said. \u201cSocial media has been flooded with images of theaters in major cities that haven\u2019t sold a single seat. And estimates are that this $75 million movie would make only $1 or $2 million in its opening weekend.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

To prove his point, Colbert shared a screenshot of a Jacksonville theater with no seats sold. \u201cNow, usually, to see Trump bomb this hard, you\u2019d have to be on a Venezuelan fishing boat,\u201d he quipped.\u00a0<\/p>\n

So, Colbert did a little digging for himself. \u201cWe checked,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd here in New York City, where Melania lived and worked and socialized for decades, in Trump\u2019s hometown, on Saturday night of opening weekend at the Regal and AMC Times Square cinemas, there are two 7:30 showings with exactly zero tickets purchased.\u201d<\/p>\n

He then shared two similar screenshots that featured theaters full of empty seats. \u201cThat\u2019s the crossroads of the world!\u201d Colbert exclaimed as the crowd cheered. \u201cIt\u2019s literally the busiest blocks on the planet!\u201d\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cZero tickets sold at the AMC. That must be heartbreaking for the first lady.\u201d\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

Since Colbert’s monologue aired last night, two tickets have been sold for the 7:30 AMC screening in Times Square, but the Regal screening still remains without a single attendee.<\/p>\n

Titled Melania<\/a>, the documentary is director Brett Ratner\u2019s first film since being accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women<\/a>\u00a0in 2017. It is set to have its official premiere at the Kennedy Center on Thursday, just one month after Trump\u2019s takeover of the venerated establishment<\/a>, but an advance screening of the film was also held at the White House last weekend<\/a>.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

The screening was attended by Mike Tyson, Queen Rania of Jordan, Apple CEO Tim Cook, photographer Ellen von Unwerth, Tony Robbins, Erika Kirk, and Amazon execs Mike Hopkins and Andy Jassy, per\u00a0The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n
