You\u2019d be in the minority if you think McLaren isn\u2019t going to win another constructors\u2019 championship and either Oscar Piastri or Lando Norris isn\u2019t going to
\n be a world champion.\n <\/p>\n
Piastri and Norris have owned the series of late and sit one (Piastri 284 points) and two (Norris 275 points) at the head of the points table. Max Verstappen is lurking in third (187) followed by George Russell (172) and Charles Leclerc (151).<\/p>\n
McLaren won the constructors\u2019 championship in 2024, and the signs were all there that the team founded by Kiwi Bruce McLaren would probably dominate in 2025. It was the first time McLaren won the constructors\u2019 championship since the team\u2019s halcyon days of the 1980s and 1990s.<\/p>\n
The Weekend Herald had a chat with former McLaren F1 team member Bob McMurray who spent 33 years with the papaya outfit and most of it during its most successful era. The burning question is what changed to turn the team around for McLaren to now dominate the grid.<\/p>\n
