The Lions will first take on No. 19\/19 Princeton (17-1, 5-0 Ivy) in a battle for first place on Friday night at Jadwin Gymnasium. Less than 24 hours later, they&#8217;ll take on Penn (12-6, 2-3 Ivy) at the Palestra.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nFriday night&#8217;s game at Princeton will be televised to a national audience on ESPNU at 6 p.m. Brenda VanLengen and Anne O&#8217;Neal will have the call. Entering Friday, Columbia has won 15 away games in a row, including all seven road games last Ivy League season. The 15-game streak is three better than No. 1 UConn (W12) and five better than No. 14 Baylor (W10).<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u2022 Columbia is coming off a record performance in last Saturday&#8217;s 89-32 thumping of Dartmouth. In the win, the Lions set team records for fewest points allowed and margin of victory against a Division I opponent. <a href=\"https:\/\/gocolumbialions.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/riley-weiss\/21631\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"21631\" target=\"_blank\">Riley Weiss<\/a> broke Columbia&#8217;s single-game scoring record with a 40-point outburst. She also broke the single-game record for field goals made (15-23) and tied the record for 3-pointers made (9-13).<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u2022 Across five Ivy League games, senior <a href=\"https:\/\/gocolumbialions.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/perri-page\/21627\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"21627\" target=\"_blank\">Perri Page<\/a> ranks No. 3 in scoring (17.2), No. 5 in rebounding (7.2), No. 4 in steals (2.0) and No. 1 in field goal percentage (59.0%). <a href=\"https:\/\/gocolumbialions.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/riley-weiss\/21631\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"21631\" target=\"_blank\">Riley Weiss<\/a> is No. 2 in scoring (18.8). <a href=\"https:\/\/gocolumbialions.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/fliss-henderson\/21634\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"21634\" target=\"_blank\">Fliss Henderson<\/a> is No. 1 in assists (5.6) and No. 2 in rebounding (9.6). <a href=\"https:\/\/gocolumbialions.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/nasi-simmons\/21629\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"21629\" target=\"_blank\">Nasi Simmons<\/a> is No. 1 in steals (4.2).<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u2022 Page is one of four players in the NCAA to average at least 14.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and shoot 50% or better from the field. Two of the other three players are reigning All-Americans Sarah Strong (UConn) and Madison Booker (Texas). Nationally, Page ranks top 50 in both steals per game (2.67) and field goal percentage (53.3%).<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u2022 On the season overall, Columbia leads the Ivy League in assists per game (17.0) and steals per game (12.7). The Lions rank No. 13 in the NCAA in steals and top 40 in assists.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u2022 Columbia hopes to secure its second win against an AP Top 25 opponent in program history. To date, Columbia&#8217;s only such win came on Feb. 24, 2024, taking down then-No. 25 Princeton, 67-65, at Levien Gymnasium in NYC. Columbia is a combined 1-15 all-time against AP Top 25 teams.<\/p>\n<p>ROAD WARRIORS<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u2022 Columbia has won 15 straight true road games dating back to last season, which is the longest active &#8220;away&#8221; winning streak in the country. The streak does not include &#8220;neutral&#8221; site games.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u2022 Columbia&#8217;s 15-game streak is three better than the next spot, currently held by UConn (W12).<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u2022 The top 10 active road winning streaks also include Baylor (W10) and UCLA (W8).<\/p>\n<p>HALFTIME WINNING STREAK<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u2022 Columbia has won 39 consecutive games when leading at halftime. The Lions have won their first 11 such games so far this season, all 20 games when leading at the half in 2024-25, and their final eight such games in 2023-24. Columbia&#8217;s last loss with a halftime lead came at Princeton on January 20, 2024, taking a 37-33 lead into the locker rooms but coming up short, 80-65.<\/p>\n<p>LEAGUE LEADERS<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/gocolumbialions.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/riley-weiss\/21631\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"21631\" target=\"_blank\">Riley Weiss<\/a> leads the Ivy League in scoring at 18.6 points per game. Weiss is fifth (1.8) and <a href=\"https:\/\/gocolumbialions.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/nasi-simmons\/21629\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"21629\" target=\"_blank\">Nasi Simmons<\/a> (1.6) is ninth.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\nMID-MAJOR COACH OF THE YEAR WATCH LIST<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u2022 Lavine Family Head Coach of Women&#8217;s Basketball <a href=\"https:\/\/gocolumbialions.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/coaches\/megan-griffith\/3312\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"3312\" target=\"_blank\">Megan Griffith<\/a> was named to the 10-person midseason watch list for the Kathy Delaney Smith Mid-Major Coach of the Year Award, presented by Her Hoop Stats. Now in its third year, the award recognizes the best mid-major coach in Women&#8217;s Div. I college basketball.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u2022 Griffith was a finalist for last year&#8217;s Kathy Delaney-Smith Mid-Major Coach of the Year Award. She was also a finalist for the 2024-25 WBCA National Coach of the Year, named the Ivy League Coach of the Year for a third straight season, named the Coach of the Year by the Asian Coaches Association, and also named the Met Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) Women&#8217;s Division I Coach of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>WEISS EXPLODES FOR RECORD 40 POINTS<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/gocolumbialions.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/riley-weiss\/21631\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"21631\" target=\"_blank\">Riley Weiss<\/a> broke Columbia&#8217;s single-game scoring record with 40 points in an 89-32 win over Dartmouth (Jan. 24). She broke the previous record of 39 set by Ellen Bossert &#8217;86BC on Feb. 17, 1986 against New Rochelle.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u2022 Weiss was 15-of-23 from the field and 9-of-13 from 3-point range. She also broke the single-game record for field goals made, and tied Abbey Hsu &#8217;24CC for the single-game record in 3-pointers made.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u2022 The 40-point game is the 12th in Ivy League women&#8217;s history and the 17th in the NCAA this season.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u2022 Weiss had 26 points at halftime, which is a Columbia record for points in a half. The previous record was a 25-point half from Tori Oliver &#8217;17CC on Dec. 30, 2014 against Wagner. Oliver scored 38 in that game.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u2022 Weiss went on to be named Ivy League Player of the Week for the third time this season. She was also named to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Ann Meyers Drysdale Women&#8217;s National Players of the Week, and was named to the NCAA Digital March Madness Starting 5 Players of the Week.<\/p>\n<p>WEISS BURSTS INTO TOP 10<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u2022 <a href=\"https:\/\/gocolumbialions.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/riley-weiss\/21631\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"21631\" target=\"_blank\">Riley Weiss<\/a> became one of Columbia&#8217;s top 10 all-time scorers in her record-breaking 40-point performance against Dartmouth (Jan. 24). She is currently No. 9 on the list with 1,102 career points.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u2022 Weiss is the sixth Lion to become a top-10 all-time scorer since <a href=\"https:\/\/gocolumbialions.com\/sports\/womens-basketball\/roster\/coaches\/megan-griffith\/3312\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"3312\" target=\"_blank\">Megan Griffith<\/a> took over as head coach in 2016. She is now No. 9 with 1,102 points.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u2022 Dartmouth&#8217;s 22% shooting is the worst by a Columbia opponent dating back through the 2009-10 season.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u2022 Columbia&#8217;s 57-point margin of victory is a new program record against a Division I opponent. The previous was a 56-point win over NJIT, 99-43, on Dec. 21, 2019.<br \/>&#13;<br \/>\n\u2022 Columbia&#8217;s 32 points allowed are a new program record against a Division I opponent.
