\n\tJohn Rambo<\/a> is heading to the front lines. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe latest feature in the revived Rambo franchise<\/a> has started production in Bangkok, Thailand. Lionsgate<\/a> will distribute director Jalmari Helander<\/a>\u2018s movie that tells the origins of the titular character. It is set years before the events in First Blood<\/a>, the 1982 film that starred Sylvester Stallone<\/a> and adapted author David Morrell\u2019s novel of the same name. <\/p>\n

\n\tNoah Centineo<\/a>, who stars in this year\u2019s Street Fighter<\/a>, plays the lead in the new movie. <\/p>\n

\n\tLionsgate announced Thursday that John Rambo\u2019s ensemble cast will include Yao (Sinners), Jason Tobin (A Thousand Blows), Quincy Isaiah<\/a> (Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty), Jefferson White (Yellowstone) and Tayme Thapthimthong (The White Lotus).<\/p>\n

\n\tHelander (Sisu and its sequel) helms the prequel project from a script by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani (Black Adam). Hailing from Millennium Media<\/a>, Templeton Media and AGBO<\/a>, the film counts Kevin King Templeton, Les Weldon, Jonathan Yunger,\u00a0Michael Disco\u00a0and\u00a0Angela\u00a0Russo-Otstot\u00a0as producers. Anthony Russo, Joe Russo,\u00a0Trevor\u00a0Short,\u00a0Dallas Sonnier and Amanda Presmyk are executive producing.<\/p>\n

\n\tStallone originated the role of John Rambo in First Blood, playing the Vietnam War veteran as he faced off against a small-town sheriff and the National Guard. The film collected $125 million globally ($417 million today) and spawned a slew of sequels, the most recent of which was 2019\u2019s Rambo: Last Blood<\/a>. <\/p>\n

This is Rambo stripped down, raw and real \u2014 a survival story about endurance, persistence and lost innocence. It\u2019s an honor to shape this next chapter with deep respect for the character and the legacy, and to bring audiences the start of John Rambo\u2019s journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, Helander explained that he hoped to make Stallone proud with John Rambo. \u201cIt\u2019s a big deal for me to actually do a Rambo film, and there\u2019s a lot of responsibility,\u201d the filmmaker said. \u201cSo I\u2019m just trying to do the best I can with it, and I hope that\u2019s enough.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"John Rambo is heading to the front lines.
