Surfing Lizard Caf\u00e9 is a popular eatery located in Secret Harbour, serving breakfast until 3pm and up to 800 drinks a day.<\/p>\n
The caf\u00e9\u2019s outgoing owner Tam Tran loves to share business tips and encourage debate on the Surfing Lizards\u2019 Facebook page.<\/p>\n
But a recent tale really got his followers talking.<\/p>\n
Mr Tran claims a customer entered the store on Wednesday and presented a receipt asking for the manager.<\/p>\n

On the receipt were two drinks \u2013 a tropical smoothie, a Vietnamese iced coffee, and two big breakfasts.<\/p>\n
The customer claimed she didn\u2019t receive her Vietnamese iced coffee\u2026 but there was a catch.<\/p>\n
On the receipt, the date was three weeks earlier.<\/p>\n
Mr Tran said he asked the customer why she didn\u2019t fix the mistake on the day, but she said she was \u201ctoo shy\u201d.<\/p>\n
He then took to social media asking his 28,000 followers if he should have given the woman her refund, and the response was surprising to say the least.<\/p>\n
The majority of the 500 comments the post drew were supportive of the woman asking for a refund.<\/p>\n
\u201cHonestly, I would thank the customer for not being shy today and for letting us know, give her a refund or a drink and make sure she felt valued and welcome to return,\u201d one read.<\/p>\n
\u201c$83 for 2 breakfasts and 1 drink probably has been slowly eating at her for weeks… couple breakki brandys gave her the confidence of raygun, I\u2019m on her side (sic),\u201d another laughed.<\/p>\n
\u201cImagine having severe anxiety and not wanting to cause a problem by not speaking up on the day, but growing the balls to finally be heard and some potato making content on that,\u201d another added.<\/p>\n
Mr Tran didn\u2019t believe this was the case and refused the woman her refund, writing: \u201cSorry, lady, we can\u2019t give you a refund on this. Not because we don\u2019t care \u2764\ufe0f But because good business needs fairness, systems, and boundaries\u201d.<\/p>\n
However, others in the comments were more concerned about the receipt that showed two big breakfasts and two drinks came to $83.25.<\/p>\n
\u201cHang on a second, I\u2019m more captivated by the price of the breakfast, forget the refund,\u201d one woman wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, for starters, I\u2019d probably not charge my customers $41.65 for a coffee and a \u2018big breakfast\u2019,\u201d another reader claimed.<\/p>\n
