To make a third consecutive final, reigning champion Jannik Sinner must take care of \u201cinspiration\u201d and 24-time grand slam winner Novak Djokovic.<\/p>\n
Sinner has not lost in three years at Melbourne Park, ended Djokovic\u2019s run of Australian Open dominance with victory in the 2024 semi-finals.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe all know what a challenge I am up to,\u201d the relentless Sinner, who is chasing a third Australian title in a row, said of facing Djokovic, 38 after smashing Ben Shelton in straight sets on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Sinner has a 6-4 win-loss record over the Serb, but has won their last five encounters. <\/p>\n
Djokovic, a record 10-time winner in Melbourne, took his place in the semi-finals when Italian opponent Lorenzo Musetti retired hurt when he was leading the Serb 6-4, 6-3, 1-3.<\/p>\n
He also did not play in the fourth round due to a walkover meaning Djokovic has played just two and a half sets in almost a week.<\/p>\n
Sinner, who has now reached a sixth consecutive Grand Slam semi-final, said that Djokovic still set the standard for professionalism.<\/p>\n
\u201cMe, as a 24-year-old, I\u2019m lucky to have someone like him in front of my eyes, and I can hopefully learn something,\u201d said Sinner, who together with Alcaraz has dominated the last eight majors. <\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s an inspiration for all of us and especially the young players,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The winner will face either Carlos Alcaraz or Alex Zverev in Sunday\u2019s final.<\/p>\n
