{"id":447713,"date":"2026-01-30T16:39:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-30T16:39:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/447713\/"},"modified":"2026-01-30T16:39:09","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T16:39:09","slug":"lancashire-ireland-captain-gaby-lewis-to-play-in-one-day-cup-in-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/447713\/","title":{"rendered":"Lancashire: Ireland captain Gaby Lewis to play in One-Day Cup in 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Lancashire have re-signed Ireland captain Gaby Lewis as their overseas player for the One-Day Cup this summer.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Opening batter Lewis played five games for Lancashire in the competition at the end of 2025, scoring 272 runs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">That included one half-century and a brilliant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/cricket\/articles\/cn4ll8xl90zo\" class=\"ssrcss-ckhpdl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">141 not out<\/a> as Lancashire beat Hampshire in the final.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Lewis, 24, has played a combined 175 internationals in 50-over and T20 cricket.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;I&#8217;m absolutely thrilled to be coming back to Lancashire this summer for another spell at Emirates Old Trafford with an amazing group of people,&#8221; she told <a href=\"https:\/\/cricket.lancashirecricket.co.uk\/news\/2025-news\/gaby-lewis-returns-to-lancashire-women-for-2026-metro-bank-one-day-cup-title-defence\/\" class=\"ssrcss-ckhpdl-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the club&#8217;s website, external<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;To play my part in the run-in at the end of last season was incredibly special, and the support from the players, staff and fans made it even more memorable.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;Winning the final the way we did is something I&#8217;ll always remember, and I&#8217;m excited about the challenge of defending our title together in 2026.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">She will link up with the Red Rose squad before the first game of their trophy defence at Durham on 11 April.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Lancashire have re-signed Ireland captain Gaby Lewis as their overseas player for the One-Day Cup this summer.
