Chappell Roan gets the job done; it just has to be on her terms. Roan isn\u2019t one to give in to pressure from the industry. Since the release of her first album, fans have been itching to hear a new full-length record from her, but she\u2019s not caving in; Roan has been teasing her beloved single \u201cThe Subway<\/a>\u201d since last summer, and she just barely released it. So, what does a sophomore Chappell Roan release look like? Here\u2019s everything she\u2019s said so far about what\u2019s next for the Midwest Princess\u2019s discography, well, besides going on tour this summer<\/a>.<\/p>\n Roan insists that despite releasing new music, a second album \u201cdoesn\u2019t exist yet.\u201d\u00a0She tells Vogue<\/a> in August 2025, \u201cThere is no album. There is no collection of songs.\u201d She also explained how her first album and second album will probably have a similar creative process: \u201cIt took me five years to write the first one, and it\u2019s probably going to take at least five to write the next. I\u2019m not that type of writer that can pump it out.\u201d Just because there\u2019s immense pressure to put out another album doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s changing how she works. \u201cI don\u2019t think I make good music whenever I force myself to do anything,\u201d she shared. \u201cI see some comments sometimes, like, \u2018She\u2019s everywhere except that damn studio.\u2019 Even if I was in the studio 12 hours a day, every single day, that does not mean that you would get an album any faster.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s not like Roan hasn\u2019t been writing in the mean time. She told Rolling Stone<\/a> in September 2024 about what she\u2019s been working on so far: \u201cWe have a country song. We have a dancy song. We have one that\u2019s really Eighties, and we have one that\u2019s acoustic, and we have one that\u2019s really organic, live-band, Seventies vibe. It\u2019s super weird.\u201d<\/p>\n Dan Nigro, who produced The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, told the New York Times<\/a> in October 2024 that they have five tracks so far, describing them as \u201ca couple of ballads and a mid-tempo rock song,\u201d two of which have already seemingly been released.<\/p>\n Since the release of The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess, Roan\u2019s released three singles: \u201cGood Luck, Babe!\u201d, \u201cThe Giver,\u201d and \u201cThe Subway.\u201d<\/p>\n Related<\/p>\n
