title=\"https:\/\/www.thenationalnews.com\/business\/economy\/2025\/07\/30\/uae-trade-economy-oil\/\">UAE\u2019s non-oil foreign trade<\/a> in 2025 surged 26 per cent annually to exceed $1 trillion for the first time, as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenationalnews.com\/business\/economy\/2025\/10\/02\/uae-economy-to-outpace-global-average-this-year-says-imf\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.thenationalnews.com\/business\/economy\/2025\/10\/02\/uae-economy-to-outpace-global-average-this-year-says-imf\/\">Arab world\u2019s second-largest economy<\/a> continues to grow under diversification strategies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"defaultstyled__StyledText-sc-11u52t4-1 huqwQJ margin-lg-bottom\" id=\"el-1-NSC7ZZSIUFH3LLJODK4PENZIHA\">Non-oil exports during the year rose 45 per cent to Dh813 billion ($221 billion), Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, said on social media platform X on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"defaultstyled__StyledText-sc-11u52t4-1 huqwQJ margin-lg-bottom\" id=\"el-3-OYETVCXR3JAINEJAAN6DFMTKRE\">\u201cThese figures were targets we announced three years ago that we would reach by 2031 \u2026 95 per cent of them have been achieved ahead of schedule by five years,\u201d Sheikh Mohammed said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"defaultstyled__StyledText-sc-11u52t4-1 huqwQJ margin-lg-bottom\" id=\"el-4-3DZPOXVRQBFONHBBATX2SULNDA\">The world&#8217;s confidence in the UAE has been solidified and the private sector has been strengthened, Sheikh Mohammed added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"defaultstyled__StyledText-sc-11u52t4-1 huqwQJ margin-lg-bottom\" id=\"el-5-3XUERKQYA5FNFHR2SC4ASA7NPI\">The country continues to record strong economic expansion on the back of its diversification drive.<\/p>\n<p class=\"defaultstyled__StyledText-sc-11u52t4-1 huqwQJ margin-lg-bottom\" id=\"el-7-LOVM6QRMQFB5LECVFRIN4CLBME\">The economy is projected to have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.centralbank.ae\/media\/nsoa0sg3\/qer-dec-2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.centralbank.ae\/media\/nsoa0sg3\/qer-dec-2025.pdf\">grown by 5 per cent in 2025<\/a>, the UAE Central Bank said in its outlook in December.<\/p>\n<p class=\"defaultstyled__StyledText-sc-11u52t4-1 huqwQJ margin-lg-bottom\" id=\"el-8-UEUHJZFEEZHG7LE4MF5SQWBXSI\">That was driven by a 4.9 per cent growth in the non-oil sector and 5.4 per cent expansion in the hydrocarbon sector because of the \u201cfaster-than-expected reversal of oil production cuts following the Opec+ quota increases\u201d, the banking regulator said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"defaultstyled__StyledText-sc-11u52t4-1 huqwQJ margin-lg-bottom\" id=\"el-9-M4HTLL2VC5GPPA3YJS3XA5EX5Q\">This year, the country&#8217;s economy is forecast to grow by 5.2 per cent, driven by stronger expansion in the hydrocarbon and non-oil sectors.<\/p>\n<p>Cepa boost<\/p>\n<p class=\"defaultstyled__StyledText-sc-11u52t4-1 huqwQJ margin-lg-bottom\" id=\"el-11-MXILUHITRZA35N3ZRK377ZSEH4\">The UAE&#8217;s network of trade partners through the Comprehensive Economic Partnership (Cepa) programme has contributed significantly to the record non-oil foreign trade, Dr Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"defaultstyled__StyledText-sc-11u52t4-1 huqwQJ margin-lg-bottom\" id=\"el-12-FPGCZG6PKNFURGCJSYIY2ZPW7A\">So far, the UAE has concluded 35 Cepa agreements, with 14 fully in effect.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" type=\"image\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" fetchpriority=\"auto\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/https:\/\/cdn.jwplayer.com\/v2\/media\/4iAB3aPE\/poster.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\"\/><\/p>\n<p>UAE and Singapore strengthen economic relations as global trade changes<\/p>\n<p class=\"defaultstyled__StyledText-sc-11u52t4-1 huqwQJ margin-lg-bottom\" id=\"el-14-PP7TDACGZVAZRDD7ZML5F2BBNU\">The UAE\u2019s non-oil exports to the 14 countries with whom a Cepa is in force recorded a value of Dh175.5 billion in 2025, a growth of 18.2 per cent, and contributing 21.6 per cent of total exports last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"defaultstyled__StyledText-sc-11u52t4-1 huqwQJ margin-lg-bottom\" id=\"el-15-I2ACLMPE2RFFLO2ERWXVKA2GX4\">Trade with India rose 14.7 per cent in 2025, fuelled by the Cepa that came into effect in May 2022. <\/p>\n<p class=\"defaultstyled__StyledText-sc-11u52t4-1 huqwQJ margin-lg-bottom\" id=\"el-16-6BBDYRFHXVG5ZOBVJKWME3357I\">Dr Al Zeyoudi said the growth in trade \u201chas been achieved despite the global challenges to the international trading system, the result of growing geopolitical tensions around the world and the re-emergence of protectionism and tariff imposition between nations\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"defaultstyled__StyledText-sc-11u52t4-1 huqwQJ margin-lg-bottom\" id=\"el-17-YTZ4VN32IJHNVII7RBMPQ6Q6ZI\">The UAE\u2019s non-oil foreign trade with its top 10 trading partners grew 28.9 per cent in 2025 and 24.8 per cent with other countries, data shows.<\/p>\n<p class=\"defaultstyled__StyledText-sc-11u52t4-1 huqwQJ margin-lg-bottom\" id=\"el-18-ITBWNNBHW5CAZBF6O3AX4U5LTY\">The top UAE exports included gold, jewellery, aluminium, cigarettes, refined petroleum oils, ethylene polymers, copper wires, precious metal composites and perfumes. They collectively increased by 64.5 per cent compared to 2024. <\/p>\n<p class=\"defaultstyled__StyledText-sc-11u52t4-1 huqwQJ margin-lg-bottom\" id=\"el-19-USZT2ODOUVHIHO3YMHIT5JMYVA\">The highest growth was in precious metal composites, plastic products, gold, jewellery, perfumes, aluminium, and copper wires, according to official data.<\/p>\n<p class=\"defaultstyled__StyledText-sc-11u52t4-1 huqwQJ margin-lg-bottom\" id=\"el-20-FCN56MUMARHNPD5Q2VHWI23NGY\">Re-exports reached Dh830.2 billion by the end of 2025, up 15.7 per cent on 2024. Re-exports to the top 10 trading partners recorded 19.5 per cent growth, while re-exports to the rest of the world increased by 12.2 per cent. <\/p>\n<p class=\"defaultstyled__StyledText-sc-11u52t4-1 huqwQJ margin-lg-bottom\" id=\"el-21-WALKDNHR7ZG3TBZ4LIVYMZJEAA\">UAE imports of non-oil goods reached more than Dh2.1 trillion last year, up 25.7 per cent on 2024. Imports increased by 27.2 per cent from the country&#8217;s 10 trading partners, and 23.3 per cent from the rest of the world. <\/p>\n<p class=\"defaultstyled__StyledText-sc-11u52t4-1 huqwQJ margin-lg-bottom\" id=\"el-22-O667Y7MRKRC5JMFV5SQBGWR6DM\">The countries major imported commodities in 2025 were gold, phones, cars, petroleum oils, jewellery, diamonds and computers. <\/p>\n<p class=\"defaultstyled__StyledText-sc-11u52t4-1 huqwQJ margin-lg-bottom\" id=\"el-23-MU6CATXWRNFD5PISMPJ2MRCGL4\">In the final three months of 2025, the UAE&#8217;s non-oil trade hit Dh1.1 trillion in a single quarter for the first time, a 33.1 per cent increase year-on-year.
