If you’re only using ChatGPT for the basics, you’re missing out on some of the coolest features hidden in plain sight. Inside ChatGPT<\/a>, there\u2019s an entire ecosystem of specialized assistants built for very specific jobs. These custom GPT<\/a>s are a mix of playful, entertaining, productive and professional tools built to make ChatGPT more useful. <\/p>\n

I’ve made several GPTs of my own<\/a>, but after spending time with dozens of the ones already on the site, I keep returning to my favorites. Here are a few worth trying \u2014 and why they make ChatGPT feel less like one chatbot and more like an app store for AI.<\/p>\n

What makes this GPT<\/a> special is that it underscores the AI’s ability to anaylze images. Keep in mind, we’re not looking for scientific precision here \u2014 but you may find yourself enjoying a moment of curiosity, surprise and maybe a laugh. It\u2019s a reminder that not every AI interaction needs to be productive to be valuable.<\/p>\n

This GPT<\/a> feels like having a conceptual architect at your fingertips. It’s really fun to play around with whether you’re redesigning a room in your house or just having fun designing a dream home. You can sketch out ideas for just about anything including skyscrapers or urban layouts without needing technical language. I designed a custom tree house with panoramic views.<\/p>\n

What stands out is how it translates vague intent into visual and structural clarity. You don\u2019t need to know the right terms \u2014 you just need a direction.<\/p>\n

I reach for this one when words feel inefficient. It\u2019s especially powerful for visual learners or explaining systems.<\/p>\n

Similar to music generator and coding GPTs, you’ll find the results generated in a new window. In this case, the response to your prompt will show up at Whimsical.com and available for you to save or share.<\/p>\n

One Google<\/a> search for AI headshots and you’ll find a list of results. But did you know you can create professional headshots directly in ChatGPT? That’s right, this GPT <\/a>focuses on professional plausibility. Instead of glam shots, it aims for LinkedIn-ready headshots or even more niche-like portfolios or acting. I used a simple snapshot of me in my puffy winter coat and transformed it into a useable headshot.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not perfect \u2014 and the ratings reflect that \u2014 but it offers a solution for people who don\u2019t have time, money or patience for professional photography. Just be sure to upload a clear image and add “keep facial features the same” before you hit send. Other than that, no other prompt is necessary.<\/p>\n

This GPT<\/a> is one of the clearest examples of AI acting like a service, not a chatbot.<\/p>\n

Instead of asking, \u201cHow do I build a website?\u201d you say, \u201cCreate me a website,\u201d and it understands the assignment. Pages, structure, design logic \u2014 all handled in one place. You can be as specific or vague\/uncertain as you want and the GPT gets to work.<\/p>\n

For small businesses and solo creators, this GPT shows how AI can collapse an entire workflow into a single conversation. For example, there are a few spots that would need to be clarified or edited in this first draft, but that is simple to do within the chat.<\/p>\n

The takeaway<\/p>\n

The bigger reason why I like custom GPTs is because it makes ChatGPT so much more than a chatbot and a truly useable platform. The ability to do more is hidden in plain sight, with each GPT representing a new way to improve workflow, flex a new skill or create something.<\/p>\n

And there are dozens more beyond these \u2014 for travel planning, studying, coding, diagramming, design, brainstorming and tasks you haven\u2019t even realized you could outsource yet. The ones I highlight here are just scratching the surface of what’s available.<\/p>\n
