{"id":452975,"date":"2026-02-02T05:05:15","date_gmt":"2026-02-02T05:05:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/452975\/"},"modified":"2026-02-02T05:05:15","modified_gmt":"2026-02-02T05:05:15","slug":"ufc-mixed-martial-arts-franchise-to-return-to-galaxy-macau-in-late-may","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/452975\/","title":{"rendered":"UFC mixed martial arts franchise to return to Galaxy Macau in late May"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A \u201cUFC Fight Night\u201d mixed martial arts event is set to take place at the Galaxy Macau casino resort from May 28 to 30, the property\u2019s promoter, Galaxy Entertainment Group Ltd, announced over the weekend.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The UFC has yet to announce the fight card for the upcoming event in Macau.<\/p>\n<p>It will be held at a 16,000-seat Galaxy Arena, a multipurpose venue within the Galaxy International Convention Center (GICC) at Galaxy Macau.<\/p>\n<p>This will be the first fight following the signing in September last year of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ggrasia.com\/macau-casino-operator-galaxy-entertainment-ufc-sign-multi-event-strategic-partnership\" title=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">four-year multi-event strategic partnership<\/a> agreement between Galaxy Entertainment and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).<\/p>\n<p>Under the deal, Galaxy Macau is set to host three \u201cUFC Fight Night\u201d events between 2026 and 2029.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As part of the agreement, the Macau casino resort will also host the opening round of UFC\u2019s \u201cRoad to UFC\u201d tournament on May 28 and 29.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It is described as \u201ca talent-development series that provides elite emerging fighters from Asia-Pacific with a pathway to compete in the UFC.\u201d The competition follows a win-to-advance format across multiple weight classes, with winners earning UFC contracts.<\/p>\n<p>A \u201cUFC Fight Night\u201d, featuring some of the best MMA athletes in the world, will take place on May 30, as per the update.<\/p>\n<p>Each \u201cUFC Fight Night\u201d in Macau \u201cwill be complemented by a week-long programme of activities, including fan meet-and-greets and appearances by star fighters, creating a festival-like atmosphere both inside and outside the arena,\u201d according to September\u2019s announcement.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In 2024, Galaxy Macau welcomed the UFC back to the city for the first time in a decade with a \u201csold-out\u201d UFC Fight Night featuring Petr Yan and Deiveson Figueiredo.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A \u201cUFC Fight Night\u201d mixed martial arts event is set to take place at the Galaxy Macau casino&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":452976,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[570],"tags":[64,63,786,785,85],"class_list":{"0":"post-452975","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-mma","8":"tag-au","9":"tag-australia","10":"tag-fighting","11":"tag-mma","12":"tag-sports"},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/452975","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=452975"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/452975\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/452976"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=452975"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=452975"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=452975"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
