After a couple of postponements, Lucas Gabriel<\/a> and Magomed Akaev<\/a> will finally collide in the ring at ONE Fight Night 40: Buntan vs. Hemetsberger II on Prime Video<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The long-awaited lightweight MMA battle will broadcast live in U.S. primetime from Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on Friday, February 13.<\/p>\n

The showdown has been several months in the making<\/a>, as the two lightweight mixed martial artists have seen their clash postponed twice due to injury setbacks.<\/p>\n

Gabriel and Akaev were originally scheduled to meet at ONE Fight Night 38<\/a> on December 5, 2025, but the Russian was forced to withdraw due to injury. The promotion quickly rebooked the tilt for ONE Fight Night 39<\/a> on January 23, only for Gabriel to pull out this time due to injury, leading to the bout\u2019s removal from that card.<\/p>\n

Now, after months of anticipation and two false starts, the lightweight duo will finally settle their business in the Thai capital this month.<\/p>\n

Gabriel, a BJJ black belt and revered knockout artist, enters the contest with a 10-1 record and riding momentum from an impressive run through the ONE Friday Fights event series, where he secured three victories that showcased his relentless pressure and grappling prowess.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old\u2019s most electrifying performance came when he submitted Gadzhimurad Amirzhanov<\/a>, showcasing the finishing ability that has made him one of the lightweight MMA division\u2019s most dangerous competitors.<\/p>\n

In May 2025, Gabriel defeated China\u2019s Zhang \u201cThe Warrior\u201d Lipeng<\/a> in a bout that was later overturned to a no contest. The night still proved memorable for the Brazilian, as he proposed to his longtime girlfriend immediately after the bout and got engaged.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the 29-year-old Dagestani sanda specialist will be eager to secure his first promotional victory after a narrow defeat in his ONE Championship debut.<\/p>\n

Akaev faced Russian compatriot Ibragim Dauev<\/a> in June 2025, pushing the experienced fighter for three hard-fought rounds before falling short via split decision.<\/p>\n

Now holding a 10-1 career record, the Black Dragon representative will look to use his striking-based style to neutralize Gabriel\u2019s grappling threats and establish himself as a force in the organization\u2019s talent-rich lightweight MMA division.<\/p>\n
