\n Another GIANT has been named to take part in the 2026 AAMI Origin game.\n <\/p>\n
GIANTS star Stephen Coniglio has been selected to\u00a0represent\u00a0his home state of Western Australia in the upcoming AAMI Origin game.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Coniglio is among the final players selected to take part in the highly\u00a0anticipated\u00a0Origin clash which will see Western Australia\u00a0and Victoria\u00a0do battle at Optus Stadium on Saturday, February 14.\u00a0<\/p>\n
A\u00a0proud West Australian, Coniglio\u00a0will be given the\u00a0honour\u00a0to pull on\u00a0the\u00a0famous\u00a0WA\u00a0jumper against the\u00a0\u2018Big V\u2019\u00a0in what\u00a0is\u00a0sure to be a heated state v state clash\u00a0in two\u00a0weeks’ time.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
An inaugural GIANT and of the club\u2019s greatest ever players, Coniglio\u2019s Origin selection adds to a remarkable\u00a014-year\u00a0career\u00a0to date and comes following his best pre-season in\u00a0a number of\u00a0years, with the 32-year-old flying on the track over summer after\u00a0a pair of difficult injury-ridden seasons across 2024 and 2025.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
Originally drafted by the\u00a0GIANTS\u00a0with pick two in the 2011 Draft out of the Swan Districts in the WAFL, Coniglio has since played 227 games\u00a0in orange and charcoal\u00a0and captained the club from 2020-22 before becoming vice-captain for the past three seasons.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Coniglio,\u00a0who grew up in Perth,\u00a0is the third GIANT selected to\u00a0represent\u00a0Western Australia, with teammates Sam Taylor and Jesse Hogan previously announced as WA representatives.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The WA trio\u00a0are set\u00a0to\u00a0line up against some familiar faces in the upcoming Origin clash, with GIANTS skipper Toby Greene and running defender Lachie Ash both selected in the\u00a0star-studded\u00a0Victorian side.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The 2026 Origin game will see state-based rivalry return at the elite level for the first time in more than 25 years, having last been played in 1999 when Victoria played South Australia at the MCG.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n
GIANTS Executive General Manager of Football, Jason McCartney, said\u00a0it was fantastic to see Coniglio named alongside a host of his teammates for\u00a0the upcoming\u00a0Origin game.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 2026 AAMI AFL Origin game will start at 7:40pm AEDT on Saturday, February 14 at Optus Stadium, with the game to be broadcast on Channel 7 and Fox, as well as 7Plus and Kayo.\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n
