WHEN Chaz Mostert<\/a> committed to making the biggest move of his Supercars career, he was joining a Walkinshaw Andretti United operation that seemed merely a shadow of its frontrunning former self.<\/p>\n

It hadn\u2019t had a driver finish top five in the championship since Garth Tander<\/a> in 2011. Heck, it didn\u2019t even finish top five in the teams\u2019 championship in 2017 nor \u201919.<\/p>\n

Since coming aboard for 2020, after leaving his long-time home at Tickford Racing, Mostert\u2019s end-of-season rankings have gone fifth, third, third, fourth, third, first.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a fitting moment to reflect on just how far the team has come as it today officially evolves into Walkinshaw TWG Racing<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was probably more recently than not definitely thinking about when I joined Walkinshaw Andretti United and what their goals were, and for me to be able to be one of their drivers over the past six years and achieve at Bathurst together and now achieve a championship,\u201d Mostert told V8 Sleuth.<\/p>\n

\u201cDefinitely there has been some space between that and no doubt when you join a team, you want to try to find that success sooner than later.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut no matter how long it takes, to actually achieve what you set off to do is something I\u2019m really proud of, and proud of that decision back in \u201919 to come join the team and see where it has got to now.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just hope as a team and us moving forward that we just remember also where we have come from and what we have done, because it\u2019s very hard in this sport to create momentum and you see momentum creates results.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe definitely had some ups and downs throughout those years through no lack of hard work and determination, different generations of cars coming and going.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now the challenge is to keep the momentum rolling with not only its new name, but its new machinery given its switch from Ford to Toyota.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a really exciting era coming into \u201926 for us because we\u2019re back to another goal for a team with what we wanted to do, which was get back to homologation status and representing a manufacturer,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, it\u2019s really cool to see how the whole journey has gone, not just from results and what we have achieved, but also with where we have come to even into this year.\u201d<\/p>\n
