{"id":456110,"date":"2026-02-03T17:29:12","date_gmt":"2026-02-03T17:29:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/456110\/"},"modified":"2026-02-03T17:29:12","modified_gmt":"2026-02-03T17:29:12","slug":"canberra-man-pleads-guilty-to-murdering-partner-who-died-from-significant-injuries-in-their-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/456110\/","title":{"rendered":"Canberra man pleads guilty to murdering partner who died from significant injuries in their home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">A Canberra man has pleaded guilty to murdering his long-term partner after she died from significant injuries in their home more than three years ago.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Family and domestic violence support services:<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">If you need help immediately, call emergency services on Triple Zero.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Adam James Britt, 40, had been set to face a murder trial in the ACT Supreme Court today, over the death of Tiffany Spence at their Reid unit in September 2022.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Britt called ACT emergency services to the home on the day of Ms Spence&#8217;s death, but paramedics were unable to save her.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Police previously said she suffered significant injuries consistent with blunt force trauma and alleged a weapon was involved, but have not publicly identified the weapon they believe was used.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">At the time, ACT Policing Detective Superintendent Hall O&#8217;Meagher <a class=\"Link_link__kR0xA Link_link__5eL5m ScreenReaderOnly_srLinkHint__OysWz Link_showVisited__C1Fea Link_showFocus__ALyv2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2023-02-03\/37-year-old-man-charged-with-murder-of-partner-in-act\/101925878\" data-component=\"Link\" data-uri=\"coremedia:\/\/article\/101925878\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">described the death as an incident of domestic violence<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"The outside of an apartment block.\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/75b47b3d49c40951813361888bbc2dcc.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">The apartment complex in Reid where Tiffany Spence was killed.\u00a0 (Supplied: ACT Policing)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Britt was arrested in February 2023 after what police described as a &#8220;complex&#8221;
