Following Paddy Pimblett\u2019s loss to Justin Gaethje at UFC 324, a former combat sports bruiser isn\u2019t sure \u201cThe Baddy\u201d can hold his own against elite competition.<\/p>\n
Pimblett competed for the interim UFC Lightweight Championship in the top MMA promotion\u2019s first event of 2026. Pimblett vs Gaethje headlined UFC\u2019s debut on Paramount+. While Pimblett had some moments, he was battered on his way to a unanimous decision loss<\/a>.<\/p>\n In the aftermath of UFC 324, Matt Brown isn\u2019t exactly sold on \u201cThe Baddy\u201d being able to bounce back against a top 10 opponent. During MMAFighting.com<\/a>\u2018s \u201cThe Fighter vs. The Writer,\u201d Brown admitted he doesn\u2019t see where a win occurs for Pimblett even further down the list.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s the problem with Paddy \u2026 I don\u2019t know if I pick him against anybody in the top 10,\u201d Brown said on the latest episode of The Fighter vs. The Writer. \u201cMaybe even like top 12, top 13. I\u2019m not sure how far I\u2019d have to go down to find somebody I\u2019d favor him against.\u201d<\/p>\n Brown believes there is a 155-pound contender who should be given the chance to test Pimblett in his next outing.<\/p>\n \u201cI mean look Paddy\u2019s supposedly a top guy, he just fought for an interim title,\u201d Brown said. \u201cGive [Benoit Saint Denis] Paddy. Let\u2019s see who is the top guy here. You\u2019re in the UFC, you just fought for an interim title. There shouldn\u2019t be anybody that Paddy doesn\u2019t fight. You just fought for an interim title, buddy. These are all fair matchups. You were thought to be better than all these other guys. Go for it.\u201d<\/p>\n
