{"id":457611,"date":"2026-02-04T10:17:10","date_gmt":"2026-02-04T10:17:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/457611\/"},"modified":"2026-02-04T10:17:10","modified_gmt":"2026-02-04T10:17:10","slug":"australia-sends-two-anzac-class-frigates-on-regional-deployments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/457611\/","title":{"rendered":"Australia sends two Anzac-class frigates on regional deployments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two Royal Australian Navy (RAN) Anzac-class frigates have sailed from Fleet Base West in Western Australia as part of the Australian Defence Force\u2019s Regional Presence Deployment program.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"429\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/aus--768x429.png\" class=\"attachment-medium_large size-medium_large\" alt=\"\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>Credit: Royal Australian Navy <\/p>\n<p>HMA Ships\u00a0Toowoomba\u00a0and\u00a0Warramunga\u00a0will conduct exercises and engagements in South, Southeast and East Asia in Australia\u2019s first and second Regional Presence Deployments for 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Regional Presence Deployments allow Australia to maintain a near\u2011continuous maritime presence within the region to support Indo\u2011Pacific security.<\/p>\n<p>Chief of Joint Operations, Vice Admiral Justin Jones, AO, CSC, RAN, said the deployment of these ships is consistent with Australia\u2019s decades\u2011long practice of engaging regional allies and partners.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur engagement and cooperation with other nations \u2013 whether it\u2019s through port visits, training and exercises, or other activities \u2013 sends a clear message in the region.
