Iconic Aussie pop group Bardot has announced they will be performing together for this time in over two decades.

The group, whose original lineup included singer and actress Sophie Monk, have revealed they will be reuniting for the inaugural Mighty Hoopla Sydney festival later this month.

The festival announced the news via Instagram on Wednesday morning, posting “Bardot are back baby!” alongside a clip of Bardot’s four remaining members.

“This isn’t poison, this is pure pop perfection,” the announcement read.

The post said that for “the first time in 25 years”, group members Sally Polihronas, Katie Underwood, Belinda Chapple and Tiffani Wood would be coming together for a one-off performance at the festival.

In the clip shared with the post, the pop quartet told festivalgoers, “See you there”.

Fans were quick to express their elation over the news, with one Instagram user commenting, “This is the reunion I’ve been waiting for”.

“Can’t wait to sing along,” another fan wrote.

“It’s like dream come true,” one person said.

Monk was not mentioned in Wednesday’s announcement.

She previously told news.com.au that her decision to depart the group over two decades ago came after she claimed Underwood signalled her intention to leave.

“What happened was, there were five of us and Katie (Underwood) said, ‘I would like to leave the band,’” she told the publication in 2023.

“As she (Underwood) said that, I went, ‘I’d like to leave too,’” Monk said.

Monk shot to fame with Bardot at the turn of the millennium, with the group’s 2000 debut album ‘Bardot’ topping album charts in both Australia and New Zealand.

The upcoming festival, which was set to take place at Bondi Beach on February 21, boasted a line-up that also included American pop artist Kesha, English singer Becky Hill and Aussie music icons Delta Goodrem and Jessica Mauboy.
