According to the v85 patch notes<\/a>, the update is set to retire \u2018Horizon Feed\u2019, which released with v57 in late 2023, bringing a mishmash of user-created Worlds, apps, games, and Reels.<\/p>\n The update is also set to make Navigator the default UI, which overhauls\u00a0the platform\u2019s dock-based UI for a more mobile-style launcher overlay.<\/p>\n For years now, if you wanted to type something on Quest you had three main methods: use the floating keyboard, pair a physical keyboard which the headset can actually track<\/a>, or use voice for text input.<\/p>\n Now, Meta is rolling out \u2018Surface Keyboard and Touchpad\u2019 as an\u00a0experimental feature on Quest 3, which allows users to\u00a0input text and control a mouse by simply mapping them to a desk or table.<\/p>\n Meta says the new Surface Keyboard is ideal for \u201ccasual productivity, browsing, messaging, and 2D applications,\u201d as it includes a basic key set.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the virtual touchpad supports index-finger actions like move, click (tap), drag (double tap and move) and two-finger scrolling with your index and middle finger. Meta says however that a\u00a0physical keyboard \u201cis still advised for high-volume writing.\u201d<\/p>\n Quest 3 users who are enrolled in the PTC can opt into the feature from the \u2018Experimental\u2019 section of \u2018Settings\u2019. If you\u2019re not already, here\u2019s how to enroll in PTC:<\/p>\n Open the mobile app, tap\u00a0Menu\u00a0in the bottom-right corner, then tap\u00a0Devices. If the toggle doesn\u2019t work, Quest PTC is currently full and not available.<\/p>\n Another feature is the newly redesigned activity bar, which is said to allow for quicker and easier access to controls like recording, calls, and media.<\/p>\n Other updates include the ability to temporarily hide virtual hands via quick actions, customize the Quest 3S\u2019 action button to trigger preferred system actions with short or long presses, and scan for malware.
