{"id":458887,"date":"2026-02-04T23:52:08","date_gmt":"2026-02-04T23:52:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/458887\/"},"modified":"2026-02-04T23:52:08","modified_gmt":"2026-02-04T23:52:08","slug":"trey-mancini-signs-minor-league-deal-with-angels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/458887\/","title":{"rendered":"Trey Mancini signs minor league deal with Angels"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ANAHEIM, Calif. &#8212; Former <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"9ca473b8-e73e-a33d-8ea0-b4d160be4be7\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/bal\/baltimore-orioles\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Orioles<\/a> slugger and cancer survivor Trey Mancini is taking another shot at a major league comeback after agreeing to a minor league contract with the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"053868c7-8bff-5edb-3cb6-f5490f33ef99\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/laa\/los-angeles-angels\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Los Angeles Angels<\/a> that includes an invitation to big league spring training.<\/p>\n<p>The Angels on Wednesday listed the infielder among their 27 non-roster invitees to camp in Tempe, Arizona.<\/p>\n<p>The 33-year-old Mancini has batted .263 with 129 homers and 400 RBI over parts of seven seasons, but he hasn&#8217;t played in the major leagues since 2023. He began his career by playing parts of six seasons with the Orioles, hitting a career-high 29 homers in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Mancini then missed the 2020 season after surgery to remove a malignant tumor from his colon. He made a successful return to the Orioles in 2021, and he won a World Series ring in 2022 after Baltimore traded him to the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"00a3015f-09ec-1b03-52af-656f5e0a18d5\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/hou\/houston-astros\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Houston Astros<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He spent part of the 2023 season with the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"5cda5067-7075-66b1-4b94-2333ab8d9807\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com.au\/mlb\/team\/_\/name\/chc\/chicago-cubs\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chicago Cubs<\/a>.
