The baby\u2019s 25-year-old father, Hank Sherriff, was arrested on Monday and charged with murder.<\/p>\n
Two days later, the baby\u2019s 24-year-old mother, Anastacia Cameron, was charged with one count of cruelty to children under the age of 16.<\/p>\n

Queensland Police said recent medical findings were crucial in progressing the case, after months of investigating.<\/p>\n
\u201cDetectives undertook an extensive and protracted investigation and recently received results from comprehensive medical examinations, which indicate the child sustained internal injuries,\u201d a statement read.<\/p>\n
Detective Inspector Damien Antonie said the nature of the injuries meant early assessments were inconclusive, and investigators had to rely heavily on specialist medical analysis to determine what happened.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can confirm that there were no obvious injuries in the early stages of this investigation, and that\u2019s what\u2019s drawn us to rely heavily on medical examinations,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe rely heavily on those medical expertise examinations for us to make that determination in relation to the causation. That\u2019s what the delay has been.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said the final medical report was crucial in being able to charge Mr Sherriff with murder.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can tell you that the medical examination report that we have received, that we\u2019ve based our action off today, is extensive, and it clearly articulates the reason why we progressed forward for murder,\u201d Detective Antonie explained.<\/p>\n
