A crab-solutely fantastic time was had as Channel 7 stars kicked off the countdown to the annual Mandurah Crab Fest on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Plenty of fresh seafood was on the menu at local bar Little Stiller as fisherman Damien Bell gave presenter Angela Tsun and Spud King Tony Galati a tutorial on how to eat a crab.<\/p>\n

Tony admitted that spuds, not crustaceans, were his specialty, and got a laugh when he revealed his preferred way to crack into a crab was with his teeth.<\/p>\n

Former My Kitchen Rules contestants Blake and Amanda Proud gave a cooking demonstration and a fresh idea on serving crab.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo I don\u2019t cook a lot with crab, and I know it\u2019s something a lot of people don\u2019t cook with, because it\u2019s hard to get the meat out of a crab,\u201d Blake admitted.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut you can buy pre-cooked crab meat and serve it on a beautiful, crispy potato chip.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe saltiness and the crunchiness of the potato chip really work perfectly with that soft sweetness of the crab.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amanda brought along her antihistamines. . . despite the Channel 7 Crab Fest being a highlight on her calendar, the foodie is actually allergic to shellfish!<\/p>\n

It was also revealed that popular Home and Away stars and real-life couple James Stewart and Ada Nicodemou will be coming to town as this year\u2019s Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest event ambassadors.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so excited to be coming back to the Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest,\u201d James said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had such a great time last time, the people were really friendly, the atmosphere was incredible, and the food was unbelievable – especially when it came to the crabs!<\/p>\n

\u201cThis time I\u2019m bringing my girlfriend along with me too, because one of her favourite things in the world besides me is crabs. Can\u2019t wait to be back in Mandurah, see you soon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mandurah Mayor Amber Kearns said the excitement was building for another Crab Fest, which usually sees more than 100,000 people descend on the town for the weekend.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s awesome to welcome James, Ada, and everyone joining us for Crab Fest. I\u2019m grateful they\u2019re coming to experience Mandurah and be part of a weekend that really shows what our city has to offer,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

As well as the usual free activities and entertainment offered over the weekend, there are several ticketed events on sale, including a Texas honky tonk themed Buckle Up event, an espresso-core-tini pilates class, a long-table marina lunch and crafternoons.<\/p>\n
