\u201cWhen we announced these products in November, we planned on being able to share specific pricing and launch dates by now,\u201d Valve says. \u201cBut the memory and storage shortages you\u2019ve likely heard about across the industry have rapidly increased since then.\u201d<\/p>\n
Due to a surge in demand from AI and data centers, RAM and storage prices have increased significantly since this time last year, with\u00a0PCPartPicker <\/a>data charting a 300 percent price increase in DDR5 RAM alone.<\/p>\n As component availability dwindles and prices rise, Valve says it \u201cmust revisit [\u2026] exact shipping schedule and pricing,\u201d noting that both Steam Machine and Steam Frame have especially been affected.<\/p>\n Still, Valve says that its hoping to ship all three products in the first half of the year\u2014ostensibly releasing sometime before July 1st.<\/p>\n Valve told Road to VR\u00a0in November that it expects the price of Steam Frame to be \u2018cheaper than Index\u2019, although the company didn\u2019t qualify pricing further than that. At its 2019 launch, a Valve Index \u2018full kit\u2019 was priced at $1,000 (headset, controllers, SteamVR trackers), while the headset alone was priced at $500.<\/p>\n While Valve hasn\u2019t commented on what Steam Machine will cost, it confirmed with YouTuber \u2018Skill Up\u2019 back in November the PC won\u2019t be subsidized like a console<\/a>.<\/p>\n Price estimations are fairly scattered at this point.
