Manchester United chiefs will be feeling smug about their decision to appoint Michael Carrick as interim head coach for the remainder of the season.<\/p>\n

In his first three games in charge, Michael Carrick<\/a> has a 100% win rate and has lifted Manchester United into fourth in the Premier League table.<\/p>\n

Carrick has matched Ruben Amorim\u2019s best winning streak<\/a> already, and he is looking to win a fourth game on the bounce on Saturday when United host Tottenham.<\/p>\n

Not only will Carrick be facing his former side from his playing days, but he\u2019ll also be going head-to-head with a club that considered him for a managerial role.<\/p>\n

When Ruben Amorim was sacked, it quickly became clear that it was a two-horse race between Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Carrick for the interim role.<\/p>\n

Solskjaer\u2019s contract demands<\/a> were too much, while Carrick was more than happy to accept a temporary position until the end of the season.<\/p>\n

But before Ineos made that decision, talkSPORT<\/a> report that Tottenham were considering Carrick for a managerial role.<\/p>\n

With Thomas Frank under huge pressure in North London, it is said that Tottenham \u201csounded out\u201d Carrick about the possibility of returning to his former club.<\/p>\n

Carrick did return to a former club, but he ended up making his move to Manchester instead of London.<\/p>\n

United fans will still have sour memories of last season\u2019s Europa League final<\/a>, where Amorim suffered defeat to Ange Postecoglou\u2019s side.<\/p>\n

It is certainly not the only time that Spurs have got the better of United in recent years, in fact the Red Devils have won none of their previous five meetings.<\/p>\n
