Van Amersfoort Racing have announced the signing of Rafael Villag\u00f3mez for the 2026 FIA Formula 2 season \u2013 completing the grid for the upcoming campaign.<\/p>\n
Villag\u00f3mez is set to return for a third season in F2 this year, fresh from a strong showing in 2025 where he achieved two podiums and finished 14th in the Drivers’ Championship.<\/p>\n
This means Villag\u00f3mez and VAR are set to continue their affiliation for the fifth consecutive season, with the Mexican driver having first raced for them in 2021.<\/p>\n
Speaking about continuing his relationship with the team, and also returning for another season in Formula 2, Villag\u00f3mez says he is excited to get going again in 2026.<\/p>\n
“I\u2019m extremely excited and grateful to be staying another year in F2 with VAR,\u201d said Villag\u00f3mez. \u201cTogether with the team, we finished the season strongly which gives me great confidence heading into the new year. I can\u2019t wait to get back on track, and work with the team to achieve even stronger results in the upcoming season.”<\/p>\n
Van Amersfoort Racing Team Principal Brad Joyce also added: \u201cWe\u2019re very happy to continue with Rafael for 2026. Over the past seasons, he\u2019s shown strong commitment and a clear step forward in performance. The podiums in Barcelona and Qatar were defining moments, but more importantly, they reflect the progress we\u2019ve made together. We\u2019re looking forward to building on that momentum and fighting for the top steps of the podium together.\u201d<\/p>\n
