\u201cBut being an Australian fighter, we\u2019re always travelling for the biggest fights.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s why we\u2019re the road warriors, right?<\/p>\n
\u201cBut now it\u2019s time for [Crocker] to get out of his comfort zone and come here.<\/p>\n
\u201cI mean, they call it hometown advantage for a reason. And that\u2019s why I\u2019m so grateful to No Limit for showing such belief in me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Should Paro get up, he will join a shortlist of Australian champions to have won in more than one weight class, including the likes of \u2013 most recently — Fenech, Danny Green, Anthony Mundine and diminutive wrecking ball, Vic Darchinyan.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd to be on the cusp of putting myself into the same conversation as those guys, incredible,\u201d Paro continued. \u201cIt\u2019s crazy.<\/p>\n
\u201cGrowing up, I dreamt of winning world titles.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut to think I could soon sit in the same room as these guys, it\u2019s ahhh \u2026 ummm \u2026 as you can see, it really does leave me bloody speechless.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I\u2019m also driven to make it a reality.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ironically, Paro was previously a part of Hearn\u2019s Matchroom stable.<\/p>\n
It was under Matchroom that Paro won the IBF super lightweight in 2024, before then heading back to Puerto Rico six months later to defend against American Richardson Hitchins \u2013 a fight he lost by split decision.<\/p>\n

Asked about potentially upsetting a Matchroom fighter in Australia, Paro replied: \u201cLook, it\u2019s business at the end of the day.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut in saying that, yes, it is going to be that little bit sweeter when I take the title.<\/p>\n
\u201cServe a bit of humble pie, I guess.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously there\u2019s a lot on the line in this one.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a massive event and I\u2019m not only blessed to be in this position, but truly grateful No Limit have put me in this position.\u201d<\/p>\n
As revealed by Fox Sports Australia this week, No Limit are also looking to put either Tim or Nikita Tszyu on the world title card.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhich is exactly what the Australian public deserves,\u201d Paro continued.<\/p>\n
\u201cObviously, fighting alongside one of the Tszyu boys is huge, and this card is going to have a whole group of us looking to showcase our skills in what is a massive, world class event.\u201d<\/p>\n
And as for his thoughts on Crocker, who most recently took the title from Irishman Paddy Donovan via a disqualification, before then winning a rematch via contentious split decision?<\/p>\n
\u201cLook, first fight Crocker won by disqualification, which is fine,\u201d Paro said. \u201cThere are rules in boxing for a reason and you have to abide by them.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut the second fight? That was real close.<\/p>\n
\u201cCould\u2019ve gone either way.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlthough you have to give Crocker and his team credit.<\/p>\n
\u201cEspecially for the way they changed up their game plan.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe first fight, there was a lot of it went in Donovan\u2019s favour.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut the way Crocker changed things up? It was huge. And you could tell Donovan was caught by surprise.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe was caught by shots. Dropped numerous times.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo while it was still a close fight, you\u2019ve got to give Crocker the credit.\u201d<\/p>\n
Paro said he was also looking forward to everything that would come along with a world title victory on home soil, continuing: \u201cMy dream has always been to become a household name in Australia.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd this is my chance.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause while I\u2019ve been a world champion before, I now get the opportunity to do it on home soil.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd the belief No Limit have shown in me with this purse bid, incredible.<\/p>\n
