SCANS have revealed Adelaide defender Mark Keane has suffered a lower leg fracture in a training incident.<\/p>\n
The 25-year-old was stretchered from the ground after sustaining the injury during a match sim hitout on Friday.<\/p>\n
He was running back with the flight but collided with recruit Finnbar Maley as he took the mark.<\/p>\n
Vision from the session showed Keane immediately clutch at his lower right leg before removing his sock and boot and being helped onto a medicart.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Keane will be sent for surgery, with no official timeline set for his return, however coach Matthew Nicks said he expects the influential backman to be sidelined for months.<\/p>\n
“As far as I’m aware to this point, it’s around three or four months (out),” Nicks told Adelaide radio station 5AA.<\/p>\n
Keane, who played every game last season and made the All Australian squad but missed selection in the final team, was taken for scans with the Crows expecting results later Friday.<\/p>\n
Any serious injury to the versatile defender would be another blow to the Crows, who have already lost young gun Dan Curtin for a lengthy period after a training mishap.<\/p>\n
