Since founding Sarpaneva Watches<\/a> in Helsinki, the independent Finnish watchmaker Stepan Sarpaneva<\/a> has consistently explored an approach shaped by the Nordic visual universe, mechanical honesty and a powerful sense of narrative. Best known for his Korona case design<\/a> and expressive moon displays, Sarpaneva has built a recognisable catalogue which offers a combination of traditional watchmaking and very original expressions, think the recent Supernova<\/a>, the Moomin 80<\/a>, the Supermoon<\/a> and the Midnight Sun<\/a>, or the Stardust series<\/a> revealed in 2023 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the brand. For 2026, the Stardust line expands with two new limited editions: Stardust Pluto and Stardust Mars.<\/p>\n

Sharing a common construction but defined by contrasting atmospheres, these are not variations for the sake of colour, more like studies in material, texture and mood. Both Stardust Pluto and Mars are presented in Sarpaneva\u2019s signature Korona case<\/a>, made from high-grade Outokumpu stainless steel<\/a> sourced from Finland. Measuring 42mm in diameter and 10.4mm thick, the case with brushed and polished surfaces is compact and well proportioned, with a lug-to-lug length of 46mm. The screw-down crown is at 4 o\u2019clock, the water-resistance is 100m and the sapphire crystals on both sides receive multiple AR coatings.<\/p>\n

\"Sarpaneva <\/a> <\/p>\n

The four-part openworked dial construction is where Pluto and Mars differ most clearly. Both feature hand-finished stainless steel components with DLC coating and multiple tones of Swiss Super-LumiNova, with stencilled numerals on the hours ring. Pluto gets a silvered, matte base dial with a frost-like glow. Mars, in contrast, uses a red gold-plated matte base dial that radiates warmth. Each version uses distinct two-tone hands, blue for Pluto, black for Mars, filled with luminous material.<\/p>\n

Powering both editions is a modified Chronode<\/a> P.1003 calibre, operating at 28,800 vibrations\/hour with a 60-hour power reserve. The automatic movement displays hours, minutes, and small seconds, repositioned at 10 o\u2019clock. Finished in rhodium with matte surfaces, the movement is visible through the sapphire caseback, where Sarpaneva\u2019s signature Moonface rotor is mounted on a ceramic ball bearing.<\/p>\n

The watches are delivered on a handmade Sarpaneva leather strap with a stainless steel pin buckle. An optional Moonbridge steel bracelet is available at an additional cost. Each version is limited to 20 pieces\u00a0and priced at\u00a0EUR 16,500, excluding VAT. The Moonbridge stainless steel bracelet pictured on the Stardust Pluto is an optional upgrade that\u2019s available on both models, and costs an additional EUR 2,500 excl. VAT. Delivery is estimated between two and eight weeks.<\/p>\n
