ITA RANKINGS<\/p>\n
Four Gamecocks found themselves in the first ITA rankings of the year.
\nKaitlyn Carnciella is the lone Gamecock ranked in singles, as she sits 80th.
\nThe duo of Lauren Friedman and Helena Buchwald is ranked 37th, while Friedman and Sara Borkop are 78th. Friedman and Buchwald are 3-0 this season from the second doubles position.<\/p>\n

The Gamecocks defeated Miami, Fla., 4-1, in the opening match of the ITA Kickoff but missed out on an ITA Indoor Championship bid after falling to No. 8 Duke, 4-0.<\/p>\n

The duo of Kaitlyn Carnicella and Taylor Goetz opened the match on court one, securing the first doubles victory after a back-and-forth battle. Jane Dunyon and Jana Stojanova clinched the doubles point for the Gamecocks from the third position, winning 6-3.<\/p>\n
South Carolina turned in a strong singles performance, earning three straight-set victories. Helena Buchwald posted a 6-3, 6-3 win on court two, while Sara Borkop followed with a 6-4, 6-3 victory from the third spot. Taylor Goetz battled on court four to earn a 6-2, 7-5 decision over No. 101 Sebastianna Scilipoti. Jane Dunyon rebounded after dropping the first set to even her match before play was halted.<\/p>\n

Lauren Friedman and Helena Buchwald secured a convincing doubles victory for the Gamecocks, cruising past Duke 6-2 while controlling the set from start to finish. Kaitlyn Carnicella and Taylor Goetz dropped their match on court one, leaving the doubles point to be decided on court three. Jane Dunyon and Jana Stojanova battled back and forth to force a 6-6 tiebreak, but Duke claimed the tiebreaker, 7-4, to secure the overall point.<\/p>\n
In singles play, Dunyon and Stojanova both captured first-set wins for South Carolina before their matches were halted. Buchwald faced Aspen Schuman on court two, where Duke earned a straight-set victory. No. 54 Carnicella pushed Duke\u2019s No. 98 Liv Hovde in a pair of tight sets, leveling the second frame at 4-4 before falling 6-4, 6-4. Taylor Goetz dropped a close first set to No. 93 Shavit Kimchi before Kimchi pulled away in the second to clinch the match for the Blue Devils.<\/p>\n
SCOUTING THE YELLOW JACKETS<\/p>\n
Georgia Tech heads into the match 3-2 overall with losses against No. 4 Auburn and No. 1 Georgia. Last time out, the Yellow Jackets captured two wins against Chattanooga and Jacksonville, 6-1 and 4-0, respectively, at home. Georgia finished the 2025 season 14-12 (6-6 ACC). They advanced to the quarterfinals of the ACC Championship before falling to Duke. In the 2025 NCAA Championships, Georgia Tech defeated Iowa in the opening round but fell to eventual champ Georgia in the second round. Senior Alejandra Cruz sits 47th in the first ITA singles rankings of the season.<\/p>\n
