Things have been, shall we say, rough lately. Existential dread is basically the new default setting for anyone under 40. But don\u2019t worry, a tiny green puppet is here to help us through it. <\/p>\n
His name? Tiny Chef\u2014or Cheffy, as some like to call him.<\/p>\n
For those who don\u2019t know him, Tiny Chef is the star of The Tiny Chef Show<\/a>, a stop-motion comedy series on Nickelodeon<\/a>. <\/p>\n The show is geared towards children ages 4 and up and each episode follows Cheffy as he whips up tiny dishes from his tree stump home for the world\u2019s tiniest cooking show. Along the way, he learns lessons about friendship, patience, kindness, and food history. <\/p>\n Outside of the show, Tiny Chef also had a few social media breakout moments that went viral, like the time the little guy recreated Shakira\u2019s choreography in \u201cGirl Like Me.\u201c<\/p>\n Tiny Chef was doing great, both on network TV and on social media\u2014that is until Nickelodeon decided to pull the plu<\/a>g on the show.<\/p>\n Since then, Cheffy has been undergoing a sort of metamorphosis. I got a million ideas\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n Then he pauses, gasps, and drops his feather duster. \u201cCanceled? What do you mean canceled?\u201d<\/p>\n Cheffy pleads his case, promising plenty of great ideas ahead. But it\u2019s no use. \u201cI understand. I love you too,\u201d he says softly before hanging up. <\/p>\n He tries to dust again, but he can\u2019t manage it. Tears start to fall as he covers his face, sinks onto his bed, and sobs. Cheffy is completely inconsolable.<\/p>\n The video is heartbreaking. But also, it\u2019s a stroke of marketing genius. Within hours, the clip went viral, raking in over 100 million views on X alone<\/a>. The show\u2019s comment sections also became flooded with people who, while claiming they had never seen the show, said they were ready to burn down Nickelodeon in protest. <\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s on sight Nickelodeon \ud83d\ude21,\u201d a TikToker wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n Cheffy\u2019s Healing Journey<\/p>\n After that video went viral, Tiny Chef creators Rachel Larsen and Ozlem Akturk crowdfunded $140,000<\/a>, which let them keep The Tiny Chef Show alive on social media.<\/p>\n They went all-in on Cheffy\u2019s emotional journey post-cancelation, attempting to realistically portray how someone might deal with having their dream crushed.<\/p>\n Simply put, Cheffy was not doing okay.<\/p>\n In one video, his eyes are puffy from crying.<\/p>\n In another, he\u2019s lying in bed surrounded by empty boxes of pizza. His room is absolute mess.<\/p>\n \u201cCheffy\u2019s doing ok,\u201d the caption assures viewers. \u201cHe says he\u2019s just taking a few \u2018duvet days\u2019 for himself.\u201d<\/p>\n Fans clocked on to what was happening immediately.<\/p>\n \u201cMy baby is DEPRESSED \ud83d\ude2b\u2764\ufe0f\u201d one person commented<\/a>.<\/p>\n It\u2019s clear Cheffy\u2019s mental health was at an all time low. However, realizing something needed to change, the little guy started making his first steps towards healing.<\/p>\n First, he tried to get inspired by watching some self-help content (we\u2019ve all been there). <\/p>\n @thetinychefshow<\/a><\/p>\n Cheffy LOVES a good horoscope! He loves writing them and he loves recieving them. He\u2019s determined to turn things around for himself y\u2019all!!
