\n\tFresh of the back of taking Sundance\u00a0by storm with \u201cThe Moment,\u201d Charli xcx<\/a> appears to be gearing up with another hot film project.<\/p>\n

\n\tVariety has learned that her upcoming movie with Japanese horror maestro Takashi Miike<\/a> \u2014\u00a0which Variety announced last year<\/a> and in which she\u2019ll star and produce \u2014\u00a0is taking shape, with additional cast and a plot unveiled, plus a sales company coming on board.<\/p>\n

\n\tMilly Alcock<\/a>, the \u201cHouse of the Dragon\u201d breakout soon to be seen in \u201cSupergirl,\u201d will join Charli on screen, as will Sho Kasamatsu (\u201cTokyo Vice\u201d) and Kiko Mizuhara (\u201cRide or Die\u201d). Norman Reedus has also joined the cast. <\/p>\n

\n\tAs for the plot, the film \u2014\u00a0written by Ross Evans and currently known as \u201cUntitled Kyoto Project\u201d \u2014\u00a0follows three friends who meet up in the Japanese city of Kyoto only to see their holiday turn into a nightmare as Charli\u2019s character is possessed by a tortured spirit. Given the involvement of Miike, known for \u201cAudition\u201d and \u201cIchi the Killer,\u201d expect violence.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film, being produced by Charli\u2019s company Studio365, is now heading to the European Film Market in Berlin, with The Veterans and CAA Media Finance handling sales. Given the calibre of of the project \u2014\u00a0not to mention Charli\u2019s swiftly proven success crossing over into film with \u201cThe Moment\u201d \u2014\u00a0it\u2019s likely to be a very hot package.<\/p>\n

\n\tDirected by Aidan Zamiri, mockumentary \u201cThe Moment\u201d \u2014 in which Charli played an alternate-reality version of herself \u2014\u00a0became one of the buzziest movies in Sundance, buzz that quickly translated into packed out cinemas. A24 announced at the end of January that the film had become its fastest-selling limited release to date<\/a>, with more than 50 screenings selling out across key markets. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe new project with Miike underlines Charli\u2019s fast-tracked transition from music icon to movie star.
