Former undisputed boxing champion<\/a> and pound-for-pound great Terence Crawford abruptly retired in December 2025 at 38 years old<\/a>, walking away after the biggest win \u2014 and biggest payday \u2014 of his career by schooling Canelo Alvarez to capture the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring super middleweight titles (watch highlights<\/a>).<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n And while boxing retirements are often temporary<\/a>, Crawford insists his is final.<\/p>\n In a recent appearance on The Pivot Podcast, former NFL player Channing Crowder asked Crawford point-blank if there was a number \u2014 $80 million, $100 million \u2014 that could bring him back for one more fight.<\/p>\n \u201cNah, because now you\u2019re selling your soul<\/a>,\u201d Crawford replied.<\/p>\n When Crowder joked that he\u2019d take $100 million \u201cand sell his soul,\u201d Crawford fired back.<\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s you. Now we know your character,\u201d Crawford said. \u201cSometimes you look at people and be like, \u2018Dang, man, you ain\u2019t got no dignity, no morals.\u2019 Come on, man. Like, what are you gonna stand for if everything is about money?\u201d<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n Crawford explained that while boxing obviously paid the bills, money was never the driving force behind his career.<\/p>\n \u201cI never was in a sport because of money, you know? Well, of course, I was in a sport to make money, but I wanted to be a world champion,\u201d Crawford said. \u201cI wanted to do something that I set my sights out to do as a little boy, and money wasn\u2019t the motivation. Being a world champion was the motivation. Me accomplishing all the things that I\u2019ve accomplished along the way on my journey\u2026Then I became a world champion, and it was just like, man, all this other stuff is a cherry on the top. I did what I set my sights out to do.\u201d<\/p>\n Health also played a major role in his decision. Crawford has long said he wanted to retire on his own terms.<\/p>\n
