A woman is dead after a car ploughed into a home in the inner-city Perth suburb of Rivervale late on Friday night.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Police said a yellow Ford Falcon sedan was travelling in a north-easterly direction on Alexander Road when it left the road and crashed into a house about 11.40pm.<\/p>\n

A 53-year-old woman who was inside the house died from her injuries at the scene.<\/p>\n

A family friend of the woman described her death as a “tragic incident” for their “tight-community”.<\/p>\n

He said the woman, from Nepal, \u00a0had been visiting family in Perth and described her as “really charming” and “loving”.<\/p>\n

The 36-year-old male driver and 43-year-old male passenger of the vehicle were not injured.<\/p>\n

The driver was arrested and is assisting police with their inquiries.<\/p>\n

It is not uncommon for cars to crash into houses, but it is rare for the people inside them to be killed.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A teenage learner driver was jailed in 2011 after crashing into a house while under the influence of alcohol, killing a man inside, in the southern Perth suburb of Safety Bay.<\/a><\/p>\n

Officers from Major Crash are investigating and are appealing for any witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers.\u00a0<\/p>\n
