Included in this list is a timber-clad<\/a> home with a porthole-style window that frames views of a nearby volcano in Iceland<\/a> and a sculptural family home in London<\/a> where rounded windows draw on the site’s curving shape.<\/p>\n

Hampshire Mill House, UK, by Cooke Fawcett<\/a><\/p>\n

London-based studio Cooke Fawcett<\/a> expanded this Grade II-listed mill house in Hampshire<\/a>, UK, with timber-clad additions.<\/p>\n

Included in the design was a standalone studio annexe, which has a low-lying structure complete with a large circular window that looks back towards the home’s main extension.<\/p>\n

“The round window to the studio is probably the most gestural element of the design,” studio co-founder Oliver Cooke said.<\/p>\n

Heifort, Belgium, by Felt<\/a><\/p>\n

Belgian architecture studio Felt used copper<\/a> to clad the roof of this barn-like home designed for a retired couple in Ghent<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The home is organised across a single level and, at one end, contains an attic guest room that has been tucked beneath the large roof and finished with a large circular window.<\/p>\n

Swan Nest, Iceland, by Yrki Arkitektar<\/a><\/p>\n

This summerhouse<\/a> in Iceland<\/a> was designed by local studio Yrki Arkitektar in reference to its location overlooking one of the country’s most active volcanoes.<\/p>\n

Partially sunk into its site, the two-storey dwelling has a concrete and timber-clad form wrapped in glazing, including a porthole window in the kitchen that frames a view of the nearby volcano.<\/p>\n

Runda, UK, by Nikjoo and Flawk<\/a><\/p>\n

Architecture studio Nikjoo<\/a> collaborated with London-based developer Flawk to create Runda, a sculptural family house built on an infill site in north London.<\/p>\n

Its playful, brick<\/a> exterior is defined by curved walls and porthole windows informed by the gentle curve of the site’s plot.<\/p>\n

Casa Wiz, Argentina, by BHY Arquitectos<\/a><\/p>\n

A two-storey gabled greenhouse<\/a> was added to a 1980s house in Buenos Aires, designed by Argentinian studio BHY Arquitectos<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Named Casa Wiz, the home’s renovation included the enclosure of an unused terrace with a third gable, which is wrapped in white metal and punctuated with a small porthole window.<\/p>\n

Brockley House, UK, by Office S&M<\/a><\/p>\n

A playful, pastel palette informed by cake adverts from the 1950s was used to add character to this home renovation<\/a> by architecture studio Office S&M<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Situated on a corner plot in London, Brockley House’s exterior is covered with textured lilac render and green drainpipes and a large circular window overlooking the rear garden.<\/p>\n

Red House, UK, by David Kohn\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

Oversized eaves, patterned brickwork and green details define this house in Dorset, southwest England<\/a>, completed by London studio David Kohn Architects<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Designed to reference British vernacular houses but with certain “eccentricities”, the home’s unusual features include its geometric front and circular and semi-circular windows with green-coloured frames.<\/p>\n

Peek-a-Blue, UK, by Nimtim Architects<\/a><\/p>\n

Local studio Nimtim Architects<\/a> used openings coloured in ultramarine blue to create visual connections within this London home<\/a> extension.<\/p>\n

Named Peek-a-Blue, the project included the addition of a new kitchen and dining room at ground level, where sliding doors and a porthole window overlook the rear garden.<\/p>\n
