A significant portion of Neaves Road in the City of Wanneroo is set to be widened as part of a multimillion-dollar safety upgrade.<\/p>\n

The project will widen a 5.2km stretch between Old Yanchep Road and Meadowlands Drive from nine metres to 12.5 metres, which will provide for a 1m-wide median, 1.5m sealed shoulders, and 3.75m driving lanes.<\/p>\n

The Federal Government announced on Friday it would be committing $3.75 million to the project. The City of Wanneroo is contributing $3.75m.<\/p>\n

Neaves Road from Banksia Grove to Bullsbrook was ranked the ninth-most risky road in WA in an RAC survey last year that received more than 18,000 nominations.<\/p>\n

Last August, a 39-year-old man died while travelling along Neaves Road in Mariginiup after his vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree.<\/p>\n

The fatal incident occurred only weeks after a 40-year-old man, also travelling along Neaves Road, died when his Toyota Camry and a Mack truck towing three trailers collided.<\/p>\n

Pearce MHR Tracey Roberts said the Federal Government would continue to work with State, territory and local governments to deliver more critical road upgrades in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn partnership with the City of Wanneroo, we are making a significant investment in improving road safety and productivity,\u201d Mr Roberts said.<\/p>\n
