{"id":466378,"date":"2026-02-08T12:01:09","date_gmt":"2026-02-08T12:01:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/466378\/"},"modified":"2026-02-08T12:01:09","modified_gmt":"2026-02-08T12:01:09","slug":"nico-hulkenberg-reveals-unwavering-f1-dream-ahead-of-audi-debut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/466378\/","title":{"rendered":"Nico Hulkenberg reveals unwavering F1 &#8216;dream&#8217; ahead of Audi debut"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nico Hulkenberg has revealed that he is still yearning to become a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsportweek.com\/series\/single-seater\/formula-1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Formula 1<\/a> race-winner, as he embarks on leading the line at the nascent Audi squad.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.audif1.com\/en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">German outfit<\/a> makes its debut in the sport this year, taking over from the existing Sauber team, after many years of successes in other forms of motorsport.<\/p>\n<p>Hulkenberg is very much one of F1\u2019s renaissance men, having returned to the sport in 2023 after a three-year absence.<\/p>\n<p>And the popular and talented German finally broke a personal duck last year, taking a long-awaited first podium at the British Grand Prix.<\/p>\n<p>In a career that has never yielded the machinery to allow him to consistently compete at the front of the field, Hulkenberg\u2019s ability has never been in doubt.<\/p>\n<p>Audi has set itself a target of being winners by the year 2030, by which time Hulkenberg will be 43.<\/p>\n<p>And despite now being very much a veteran of the sport, Hulkenberg is keen to tick a box on his career, but is cautious and aware that the team is learning to walk before it can run.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/Audi-F1-2026-Nico-Hulkenberg-1024x576.webp.webp\" alt=\"Nico Hulkenberg is still eyeing a Grand Prix victory, as Audi takes its first steps into F1. Image: Audi<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s the dream, winning a race. The podium is done,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWinning a race is somewhat a target, a goal, a dream. It\u2019s about maximising your opportunities, the potential that\u2019s in the car, and just maximising it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cObviously, it all depends on where we start, how competitive we are this year.
