{"id":467720,"date":"2026-02-09T03:30:12","date_gmt":"2026-02-09T03:30:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/467720\/"},"modified":"2026-02-09T03:30:12","modified_gmt":"2026-02-09T03:30:12","slug":"charli-xcx-super-bowl-poppi-commercial-sky-ferreira-on-wuthering-heights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/467720\/","title":{"rendered":"Charli XCX Super Bowl Poppi Commercial, Sky Ferreira on Wuthering Heights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"pmc-ecomm-disclaimer\">\n\tIf you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, Variety may receive an affiliate commission.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tCharli\u00a0xcx\u2019s\u00a0Brat Era may be coming to a\u00a0close\u00a0but the pop star brought out the neon green strobe lights one last time for a <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/super-bowl\/\" id=\"auto-tag_super-bowl\" data-tag=\"super-bowl\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Super Bowl<\/a> Poppi commercial, which will debut during the third quarter of the Big Game tonight. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe 30-second spot \u2014 directed by \u201cThe Moment\u201d filmmaker Aidan Zamiri and also starring <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/rachel-sennott\/\" id=\"auto-tag_rachel-sennott\" data-tag=\"rachel-sennott\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rachel Sennott<\/a> \u2014 is in some ways a reference to the pop star\u2019s \u201c360\u201d music video, which transforms everyday locations like a swanky restaurant, a gym and a hospital into bass-thumping raves. In the Poppi commercial, a college lecture hall gets the \u2018Brat\u2019 makeover\u00a0when\u00a0a student cracks\u00a0open a can of\u00a0the prebiotic soda, summoning Charli\u00a0xcx\u00a0in a pair of rave glasses and leather hot shorts. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cWhenever we\u2019re together, we have a wild time,\u201d Charli tells Variety of Sennott, who\u00a0before playing a version of herself in A24\u2019s \u201cThe Moment,\u201d appeared in the singer\u2019s \u201c360\u201d music video. \u201cIt\u2019s so easy to do stuff with her because she totally gets my world and I get her.\u201d The pair even hit a house party together in L.A after shooting the commercial. \u201cThat\u2019s just our energy together,\u201d Charli says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAs for Poppi, this marks the third consecutive year the probiotic soda company has aired a Super Bowl ad. \u201cWe approached the Super Bowl as a social-first moment designed to move at the speed of culture, not just a single broadcast spot,\u201d Poppi\u2019s SVP of marketing Kristina MacIntosh says. \u201cBy leading with bold creative and collaborators who understand how ideas travel digitally, we turned the Super Bowl into a living, shareable moment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAhead of her Super Bowl debut, Variety caught up with Charli about \u201cThe Moment,\u201d\u00a0reuniting\u00a0with Sky Ferreira for the \u201cWuthering Heights\u201d soundtrack and more:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\t\tThis Super Bowl ad is all about curating a vibe. Why was Rachel Sennott a good fit for this?\u00a0\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWell, Rachel is really fun.\u00a0Whenever\u00a0we\u2019re\u00a0together, we have a wild time.\u00a0We actually went out to a house party after we shot the commercial.\u00a0That\u2019s just\u00a0kind of\u00a0our energy together. She was perfect because we wanted to sort\u00a0of reference\u00a0our\u00a0previous\u00a0collaboration. She was obviously in the \u2018360\u2019 videos.\u00a0So\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0so easy to do stuff with\u00a0her, because\u00a0she totally gets my world and I get her. It was natural, very vibes.\u00a0Rachel definitely has a good time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\t\tKylie Jenner, who appears in \u2018The Moment\u2019 is also a vibe. What was it like preparing with Kylie for that scene?\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHonestly, Kylie was just so easy to work with \u2014 very cool, very\u00a0down to earth. She was just totally on board to play around with the idea of \u2018Persona.\u2019 It was super easy to shoot with her. She knows Aidan, the director, as well so it was honestly a\u00a0really fun, easy day. We shot for a couple of hours and we were done. Obviously,\u00a0she\u2019s\u00a0a natural. It was great.<\/p>\n<p>\t\tKylie plays a version of herself, like many of the characters. Did she have any say in the script, or improvise at all?\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tEven though it was scripted and there was an excellent screenplay written, it was important for us and for Aidan to allow all the characters and the actors to be able to improv if they wanted to \u2014 just as long as the character was fully formed and rooted in the world that we created. Improv was a part of it because we were shooting a documentary style and it really was like a documentary. We wanted everything to feel  unbelievably naturalistic and really, truly real.\u00a0So\u00a0everybody was\u00a0definitely improv-ing.<\/p>\n<p>\t\tAs an actor, what was it like portraying a version of yourself?\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tObviously for me, I know myself so\u00a0well\u00a0and I know the version of me on screen that could be a part of me.\u00a0So\u00a0I found it very entertaining to\u00a0kind of amplify\u00a0some of those things. It was cool because I think the whole thing about the film is, like, even though\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0not based on reality, it sort of is a version of reality that could have happened. The way I behave in the film is [based on] scenarios that could have happened, and I could have reacted that way.\u00a0So\u00a0I found it quite fun to go there.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\t\tYou also reunited with Sky Ferreira on the \u2018Wuthering Heights\u2019 soundtrack, which was recently unveiled. How did that collaboration come together?\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tSky and I have worked together\u00a0before,\u00a0we\u2019ve\u00a0done a song together.\u00a0We\u2019ve performed together in the past, and we\u2019ve just known each other for a really long time because we kind of came up in the industry at a similar time.\u00a0We\u2019ve\u00a0always been around in each other\u2019s lives. It\u2019s always great to work with Sky, and I really just felt that she kind of belonged\u00a0on\u00a0this soundtrack because of the tone of Emerald [Fennell\u2019s] screenplay. It just felt right to me, so I reached out to her and we worked together in the studio. I\u2019m\u00a0super into the song that came out.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\t\tWhat was the process of creating songs for the film? Did you watch cuts first and then go into the studio, or the other way around?\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tActually myself\u00a0and Finn Keane, who is the main producer across the album, we kind of were writing in isolation, without a film. We read the screenplay, and then we\u00a0immediately\u00a0started making songs because I\u00a0kind of felt\u00a0inspired to do so. And then later down the line, we began watching the film. We really felt that it was important that the song sort of be related to what Emerald\u00a0wrote, but also stand on their own as an album. So that\u2019s why we kind of decided to do it that way, and then later on, we would be more back and forth with Emerald, and she was kind of like swapping songs in and out depending on what we wrote, depending on the tone that she wanted.
