Cadillac released its 2026 livery for its debut F1 season during a commercial in Monday\u2019s Super Bowl between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots<\/a>.<\/p>\n

F1\u2019s newest team used part of former US President John F Kennedy\u2019s speech in September 1962 at Rice University about his commitment to the Apollo moon landing program to unveil the colours that will be worn by returning drivers Valterri Bottas and Sergio Perez this year.<\/p>\n

Cadillac will race for the first time at next month\u2019s Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.<\/p>\n

The reveal \u2014 which came with a simultaneous release in New York\u2019s Times Square, came amid a backdrop of controversy, however.<\/p>\n

The company is reportedly being sued by legendary Hollywood director Michael Bay, who directed The Rock, Pearl Harbour and Armageddon.<\/p>\n

Rolling Stone reports that he\u2019s seeking $1.5 million (A$2.1m) in damages. <\/p>\n

In the lawsuit, it is claimed that Cadillac had \u201capparently stolen Bay\u2019s ideas and work for the commercial without paying for them\u201d.<\/p>\n

It adds the claim that Cadillac \u201cplanned all along to rip him off\u201d as it wanted a \u201cMichael Bay commercial at a bargain-basement price\u201d.<\/p>\n

Bay was reportedly told via a text that Cadillac wanted to go in \u201ca different direction\u201d.<\/p>\n

Cadillac has since responded in a statement to PlanetF1.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s unclear why he\u2019s bringing this claim, since the concept and creative were already developed and we were only exploring him as a director. It\u2019s also unusual to raise this now, given the ad hasn\u2019t even been released,\u201d the statement read before the commercial was unveiled.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re confident this will be resolved appropriately.
