It bugs me so much. My tribe is supposed to be the left, but these are the people who just can\u2019t talk to you unless you\u2019re exactly there,\u201d Maher said during his podcast on Monday.<\/p>\n
He told Carolla that though the two of them weren\u2019t always on the same page, they could still engage in a conversation.<\/p>\n
\u201cJimmy, I\u2019m sorry, like, I think he\u2019s one of the nicest guys. I did a mea culpa when we exchanged emails, not about what he was complaining about, but just saying, like, sometimes I am a little brash about me when they compare me with the other late-night guys, and I\u2019m like, I\u2019m not like you guys,\u201d Maher said. \u201cI\u2019m not. You could all exchange your monologues, all of you, and no one would know the difference in tone. OK?\u201d<\/p>\n

The comedian said he didn\u2019t just automatically buy into \u201cleft-wing bull\u2014-,\u201d and that he never stopped making fun of the \u201cright-wing bull\u2014-\u201d either.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd like, if that\u2019s not good enough for you, then I think you\u2019re the a\u2014\u2014. And I don\u2019t think Jimmy is an a\u2014\u2014. I think he\u2019s a great guy, and it bugs me that, you know, because of what the latest thing was, that we may never talk again,\u201d Maher added.<\/p>\n
Maher said during a\u00a0\u201cClub Random\u201d conversation in December that his friendship with Kimmel hung in the balance after he spoke out against the\u00a0late-night host\u2019s wife\u2019s remarks.<\/p>\n

Maher continued, \u201cI love Jimmy. I always have. I don\u2019t know him that well, but he\u2019s a great guy. And we have a connection, like, we were both fired by ABC. And he took my \u2014 I had that timeslot. So, like, it\u2019s so interesting, the same ABC \u2014 I mean, Disney executive \u2014 canned us both. It\u2019s interesting, the connections.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kimmel was briefly<\/a> suspended\u00a0by Disney in September after making remarks about Charlie Kirk\u2019s alleged shooter.
