Kurtis Patterson’s second century from as many innings has powered NSW to a seven-wicket One-Day Cup win over South Australia at Cricket Central.<\/p>\n
In his first knock since last week’s first-class career-best innings (173no), red-hot Patterson smacked an unbeaten 104 off 110 balls as the hosts chased down South Australia’s 7-242 with six overs remaining on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Patterson had come to the crease after NSW lost opener Sam Konstas (17 runs off 30 balls), forging a match-defining 113-run stand with No.4 Matthew Gilkes that had NSW on track.<\/p>\n
After Gilkes (46) picked out a fielder just shy of his half-century, Patterson flicked Lloyd Pope (0-45) to fine leg and ran three to celebrate a second List A century of the summer.<\/p>\n

Stand-in captain Patterson did not have the chance to pass his List A high-score (115), with Lachie Shaw (33no) hitting the winning runs down the ground for four in the 44th over.<\/p>\n
NSW finished at 3-246 and now move into second place on the ladder behind Tasmania.<\/p>\n
Patterson was given lives on 33 and 59, with Nathan McSweeney grassing a tough chance from his own part-time offspin, before a leaping Jordan Buckingham got a hand to an awkward shot that flew past mid-wicket.<\/p>\n
The Blues star moved into the 80s by smacking Liam Scott (1-37) into the bushes over deep square leg with his first six of the innings.<\/p>\n
In another highlight, the tall No.3 played Scott down the ground for four to reach his half-century off 60 deliveries.<\/p>\n
Patterson’s brilliant pair of innings came after the 32-year-old declared he was hopeful of adding to his two Test matches when Australia begin a busy 12 months in August.<\/p>\n

But even reaching his current level of domestic form could be considered a great achievement for Patterson, who was axed from NSW’s Shield team in the 2023\/24 summer.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Test wicketkeeper Alex Carey (52 runs off 62 balls) and Jason Sangha (57 off 67) raised the bat for half-centuries after South Australia lost the toss.<\/p>\n
But Carey chipped a full Liam Hatcher (1-24) delivery to mid-on, and Sangha slogged to Hatcher at third before either man could hoist the visitors to a formidable total.<\/p>\n
