Phil Mickelson his confirmed his replacement for this week’s LIV Golf<\/a> event in Australia.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mickelson<\/a>, 55, is currently out of action as he is attending a “private family health matter” back home in the United States with his wife Amy.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The six-time major champion announced on the eve of LIV’s fourth season that he wouldn’t be teeing it up at their curtain-raiser in Riyadh and will miss this week’s stop in Adelaide.\u00a0<\/p>\n

America’s Ollie Schniederjans filled for the HyFlyers last week in Saudi Arabia but Wade Ormsby will be making a return to LIV Golf this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Excited to welcome hometown hero Wade Orsmby to the team this week,” the HyFlyers said in a statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The team is made up of former PGA Tour members Cameron Tringale and Brendan Steel. Michael La Sasso was signed<\/a> by LIV over the winter to replace the relegated Andy Ogletree.<\/p>\n

Ormsby played in every single LIV Golf event during their “beta test” 2022 season and has been filling in as a reserve ever since.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He filled in at their stop in Washington in 2023 and played the first two events last season, finishing 25th and 50th.\u00a0<\/p>\n

When he’s not filling in as a reserve for LIV, Ormsby can be found teeing it up on the International Series on the Asian Tour.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Last season, Ormsby finished 12th in the order of merit. The top two players in the standings earn exemptions into LIV Golf.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The HyFlyers aren’t the only team who will be missing their captain this week. England’s Lee Westwood continues his recovery from a wrist injury.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Young English pro Ben Schmidt took Westwood’s place in the Majesticks line-up last week, with the 23-year-old registering a T41st finish.<\/p>\n

The Majesticks have not confirmed whether Schmidt will play for them this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n

New recruit Elvis Smylie won the first LIV Golf event of the 2026 schedule<\/a> with a one-shot victory over defending individual champion Jon Rahm.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Smylie became the first player since Henrik Stenson in 2022 to win a LIV event on debut.\u00a0<\/p>\n
