The UAE\u2019s 6-173 was largely thanks to their captain Muhammad Waseem\u2019s 66 not out. <\/p>\n
Choosing to bat first, Waseem and Alishan Sharafu put on 107 for the second wicket.<\/p>\n
It took a sensational piece of New Zealand fielding to break the partnership. Mark Chapman intercepted a Sharafu slog-sweep a whisker inside the boundary and before he stepped over the ropes relayed the ball to Daryl Mitchell to complete the dismissal. <\/p>\n
The 31-year-old Waseem, who was one of only three current UAE players to play in their last appearance in a T20 World Cup in 2022, hit four fours and three sixes in facing 45 balls.<\/p>\n
PAKISTAN REDEMPTION AFTER 2024 HUMILIATION<\/p>\n
Pakistan warmed up for their blockbuster T20 World Cup clash against India with a 32-run win against the USA then declared they were \u201cconfident\u201d of taking down their bitter rivals.<\/p>\n
It comes after the USA sealed a historic victory during the 2024 edition of the tournament, regarded as one of the sport\u2019s greatest upsets of the modern era. <\/p>\n
The Group A win was a boost for Pakistan before Sunday\u2019s high-octane clash with the defending champions in Colombo, now back on after the Islamabad government called off a boycott 24 hours previously. <\/p>\n
Opener Sahibzada Farhan, who top scored with 73 in the USA win, said: \u201cThe match is on and we are in a confident mood.\u201d<\/p>\n
Pakistan have a dismal record against India in ICC tournaments, winning only once in eight encounters in T20 World Cups and have lost all eight times that the sides have met in the 50-over World Cup. <\/p>\n
In last year\u2019s T20 Asian Cup, India beat Pakistan three times on their way to lifting the trophy in Dubai. <\/p>\n

Spinner Tariq Usman, who took 3-27 against the United States, said those stats did not bother him.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe used to beat India in the 1990s and before so don\u2019t count the recent record or only the ICC event record, we used to win against them frequently,\u201d said Tariq.<\/p>\n
Farhan promised: \u201cThis time it will be different and we will give a strong performance. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe lost all three matches including the final to India in the Asia Cup but they were not one-sided.\u201d<\/p>\n
Farhan said two wins out of two in the World Cup, the first was against the Netherlands on Saturday, had kick-started Pakistan\u2019s campaign. <\/p>\n
Pakistan came into the tournament having beaten Australia 3-0 in a home T20 series and Farhan said the mood around the camp was very positive. <\/p>\n
\u201cWins always give you confidence and we will take this confidence into Sunday\u2019s game and we assure you we will be a better side come Sunday,\u201d said Farhan. <\/p>\n
India will face a second Group A match against Namibia on Thursday in New Delhi before flying to Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n
