Once again, the NFL has picked a quarterback for the league\u2019s Most Valuable Player. This year, it was Los Angeles Rams<\/a> quarterback Matthew Stafford; the year before that, it was Buffalo Bills<\/a> quarterback Josh Allen.<\/p>\n

NFL Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett has had enough and thinks the award goes to quarterbacks too often.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are saying that, um, a defensive player can\u2019t win MVP, and we don\u2019t affect winning enough, \u201c he said in an interview with fellow defensive star Micah Parsons.<\/a> That\u2019s the next mission, that\u2019s all I\u2019m thinking of.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cI feel like QB has MVP on lock because they have the ball in their hand pretty much every play.\u201d<\/p>\n

Garrett also said that the quarterbacks haven\u2019t determined the playoffs this year, but the defense, and he\u2019s not wrong.<\/p>\n

All you have to do is look at this past Sunday\u2019s Super Bowl to understand where Garrett was coming from. The Seattle Seahawks<\/a> defense basically shut down the New England Patriots offense, holding them to 13 points.<\/p>\n

The Patriots’ defense wasn\u2019t that bad itself, only holding the Seahawks offense to one touchdown.<\/p>\n

Before that, it was the Patriots’ defense against the Denver Broncos<\/a> in the AFC Championship Game that won their matchup. Despite the brilliant performance of the Seahawks’ defense, the Super Bowl MVP Award went to Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III.<\/p>\n

Walker was the first running back to win the MVP award in nearly 30 years, so maybe Garrett is right, maybe it\u2019s time to reexamine who wins all the MVP awards, too.<\/p>\n
